4 TRAUMA COURSE DESCRIPTION This symposium is designed for healthcare professionals involved in the management of trauma patients. Specialists will provide presentations on current topics and a forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas on a variety of issues. Panel discussions will also be provided to stimulate dialogue with the audience in a question and answer format. At the completion of this symposium, participants will have enhanced their skills and competence in patient care, medical knowledge, and system-based practice. TARgET AUDIENCE Trauma Surgeons, Emergency Care Specialists, Neurosurgeons, Pediatric Surgeons, Orthopedic Surgeons, Critical Care Specialists, Anesthesiologists, EMS, Social Workers, Physiatrists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, RNs, ARNPs, PAs, Pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals LEARNINg OBJECTIVES At the completion of this symposium the participants should be able to: Evaluate and apply the latest advancements in disaster management Review the guidelines and progress in pediatric abdominal trauma Explain surgery techniques in penetrating trauma Analyze the role of trauma and acute care surgery Evaluate the challenges in trauma surgery as a career Integrate airways & resuscitation management into practice Identify the opportunities for resuscitation in trauma Assess tools and techniques for complex bleeding ACCREDITATION is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians CREDIT designates this live activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
