If yu have nt already attended an in-persn educatin sessin r cmpleted the nline general educatin mdule, please take the nline educatin mdule. If yu practice in an inpatient setting, take the inpatient mdule. If yu practice in an utpatient setting, take the utpatient mdule. If yu practice in bth an inpatient and utpatient setting, take the inpatient mdule. Is there cntinuing medical educatin credit fr cmpleting ICD-10 educatin? ICD-10 General Awareness educatin des nt meet the criteria fr cntinuing medical educatin credit (CME). Specialty educatin des qualify fr AMA PRA Categry 1 CME credit and will be prvided t emplyed Prvidence and Swedish prviders. Independent prviders are nt eligible t receive CME fr ICD-10 prvider educatin due t ur tax exempt status. T receive credit fr cmpletin, yu must pass the test at the end. If yu d nt pass the test, yu must clse the mdule and repen it. Upn repening the mdule, yu must restart the mdule by chsing NOT t resume where yu left ff. Once the mdule has restarted, scrll dwn and select the Questins slide t retake the quiz. Once yu have passed the test, yu must further click the green Mark Dne buttn t cmplete. The first Epic ICD-10 educatin mdules, n the diagnsis calculatr, are available in The Cmmns. The diagnsis calculatr helps guide prviders in selecting diagnses when mving frm a generic t a specific diagnsis. The calculatr is nt triggered fr every generic diagnsis, but fr selected generic diagnses requiring additinal specificity. One mdule is geared tward utpatient prviders, and anther is geared tward the inpatient discharge wrkflw. Bth give prviders a preview f the functinality that will be available in Epic. Additinal Epic ICD-10 educatin mdules and tls are in develpment and will be made available thrughut the year. Hw des the diagnsis calculatr in Epic wrk? Abut 25% f diagnses will trigger the diagnsis calculatr in Epic. It will affect certain areas mre than thers (injuries, bstetrical diagnses and diagnses that include laterality). Orthpedic surgery, OB/Gyn, emergency medicine and primary care prviders will encunter this tl mst ften. Fr example, there will n lnger be a generic diagnsis fr Clles fracture ICD-10 requires mre detail. If yu search fr that diagnsis, the diagnsis calculatr will pp up: 4

The ICD-10 educatin cntent is weighted tward inpatient care; hwever, specificity f dcumentatin and specificity f diagnsis are identical n matter which envirnment yu are in. In additin, the specificity f diagnsis will be critical t ur Fee Fr Value success, as it is the basis f severity adjustments in ambulatry care as well. If yu mainly prvide utpatient care, please watch the Epic ICD-10 diagnsis calculatr vide first t better understand hw the ICD-10 educatin can imprve yur efficiency. Will I need t cnvert my existing ambulatry prblem lists in Epic? N, existing ambulatry prblem lists in Epic will nt need t be cnverted because mst terms are mapped t bth ICD-9 and ICD-10 cdes. When a term is mapped nly t an ICD-9 cde r an inactive ICD cde, a pencil icn will appear next t the item, prmpting the clinician t use the diagnsis replacer in Epic. What des "dual cding" fr ICD-10 mean fr prviders? Dual cding directly impacts cders but nt prviders. 5

6 Starting n April 1, 2014, prviders wh practice in ambulatry care settings need t: Chse visit diagnses based n ICD-10 clinical terminlgy. Make sure dcumentatin has elements t supprt the mre specific ICD-10 diagnsis requirements (laterality, encunter type (initial, subsequent), healing/nn-healing, etc.). Starting n April 1, 2014, prviders wh practice in acute care settings need t: Make sure dcumentatin includes clinical impressins, why the patient requires admissin, presumptive diagnsis, risk, and plan f treatment with ICD-10 specificity. Clearly state the bjective f the prcedure, laterality if apprpriate, the specific bdy part(s) addressed in a prcedure (name f the tissue/rgan/lbe/etc.), the apprach hw did yu get t the bdy part (site)(pen, percutaneus, via natural pening). The primary prvider needs t acknwledge and agree, when apprpriate, with ther prviders dcumentatin in each encunter t ensure all clinical diagnses will be captured in final cding. What happens if dcumentatin des nt supprt a diagnsis? Yur facility clinical dcumentatin specialists will cntinue t generate clarificatins; hwever, they will be based n ICD-10 dcumentatin requirements. Similar prcess is being cnstructed fr the ambulatry side. 6
