Harris Symposium A CME Event for Physicians and Thursday and Friday, February 15-16, 2018 Hyatt Regency Birmingh The Wynfrey Hotel Riverchase Galleria, Birmingh, Alaba Sponsored by Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Division of Continuing Medical Education
2 Progress in Ob/Gyn 2018 I very pleased to announce the 43rd Annual Bruce A. Harris Symposium: Progress in OB/ Gyn 2018 to be held February at Hyatt Regency Birmingh The Wynfrey Hotel in the Riverchase Galleria. This is a professional develoent opportunity sponsored by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Division of Continuing Medical Education at the University of Alaba at Birmingh. Progress in OB/Gyn is ned in honor of Bruce Alexander Harris, Jr., M.D. ( ), who devoted his career and his life to improving women s health in Alaba. Please see the Progress in OB/Gyn website for a tribute to this wonderful man. The is greatly missed by all. This course, which was first held in 1975, has been a longstanding tradition for OB/Gyn physicians and nurses. The meeting offers outstanding course faculty presenting sessions on the most recent advances in OB/Gyn and the opportunity for networking and discussion. In addition to presentations there will also be a number of posters, detailing research in various topics of OB/Gyn, which will be available to view throughout the day. We are once again offering 3 optional luncheon sessions this year: Stump the lunch (Thursday), Special Topics lunch for nurses (Friday), and Cutting Edge Research lunch (Friday), which highlights the current national research in OB/Gyn, much of which is ongoing at Uab. This research lunch was first offered last year and received excellent reviews from the attendees so we are continuing it again this year. Although the session will primarily target physicians, interested nurses or advanced practice providers are welcome to attend. As always, we have taken many of your topic suggestions from the 2017 conference evaluations and tried to integrate those into the progr. Additionally, we continue to offer Gynecology and Obstetrics topics on separate days so that you have the option to register for either one or two days. You will receive an notification when the syllabus is posted or either you may visit the Progress website ( in advance of the meeting to view and/or download any course material. Internet access will also be provided at the meeting so you may access the syllabus on-site. In addition to participating in the meeting, I do hope that you take the time to enjoy Birmingh, which is a diverse city that successfully balances history, culture and tradition with an eclectic mix of exciting activities. Many thanks to the faculty and staff who help make this meeting possible each year. I look forward to seeing you at the Progress in OB/Gyn 2018! Alice R. Goepfert, M.D. Course Chair
