2 Statement of Need The ever-increasing amount of new biomedical information requires pediatric and family physicians to obtain comprehensive, up-to-date information on a wide range of clinical issues encountered in daily practice. The Popular Pediatric Clinical Topics 2018 course will highlight recent advances in pediatrics presented by a variety of clinical faculty covering such topics as: body shaming, adolescent substance abuse, new technologies in the treatment of diabetes, adolescent male genitourinary health, caring for the transgender child or adolescent in your practice, the current approach for pre-athletic screening for cardiac disease, treatment of headaches, update on pediatric vaccines and the Zika virus, mindfulness in improving patient care and many more. This course is presented in a mini-seminar format with cases, Q&A and time for interaction with the faculty. Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to: Incorporate updated standards of care for transgender and gender non-conforming adolescents and children in order to identify and address the transgender patient s medical needs. Evaluate the pediatric patient with Type 1 diabetes and his/her family s adherence to selfmanagement before prescribing glucose-monitoring technology. Develop strategies to manage pediatric patients diagnosed with enuresis. Manage the diagnosis and treatment of patients with the Zika virus according to the CDC guidelines. Develop skills in a variety of mindfulness methods that elicit the relaxation response and determine how to share this practice with children and young adults. Utilize the current approach for pre-athletic screening for cardiac disease into clinical practice. Recognize how lifestyle modification builds resiliency and improves physician performance. Target Audience This national program is designed for pediatricians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals who care for infants, children and adolescents. Each extra person beyond double occupancy sharing a suite will be charged an additional $50 per adult, per night. There will be no charge for children up to and including the age of 18 years who share with their parents. Maximum occupancy per suite is 2 adults/4 persons. Please note that the hotel cannot guarantee specific suite numbers, specific suite location (tower or floor) or bedding type (king bed or two double beds). The above rates are subject to the following mandatory charges: an additional $12 (subject to change) per person plus applicable tax charge to cover roundtrip porterage and $3 (subject to change) per suite, per day plus applicable tax charge and $11 (subject to change) per villa, per day plus applicable tax charge for housekeeping services. Cancellation and Refund Policy Registration fees, less a $50.00 administrative charge, are refundable if written cancellation is received prior to September 25, No refunds will be given for cancellations received after this date or for conference non-attendance. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone any activity if necessary. In such case, full refund of registration fees will be given.
