2 Statements & Search Criteria Mission Our goal is to provide clean, safe water throughout the continent of Africa helping to prevent the premature deaths of up to 6,000 children daily. These deaths are caused by waterborne illness from contaminated water. We are accomplishing this goal through the drilling of deep, fresh water wells and the completion of entire water well projects. These projects include the bore hole, pvc or steel casing, filters, sand screens, hand pump, and many times a holding tank and solar pumping system. We also help educate villagers as to the infrastructure of the well and the importance of maintenance. These wells not only save thousands of lives on a daily basis but help bring peace to areas where lack of water has caused unrest and sometimes violence. Background Africa 6000 International was started in 2007 when its founder, Joseph J. Prishcak, after returning from several trips to Africa, was determined to do something to stop the 6,000 child deaths that were taking place daily simply from waterborne disease and much dehydration. That's about one child death every 14 seconds. The cause is bacteria-ridden water. The solution is fresh, clean water wells. Joe decided to start a non-profit that would deal directly with Africa's water sector with the sole mission of providing clean, fresh, life-giving water to great-to-desperate need village regions in Africa. CEO/Executive Director Statement I have never been thirsty to the point I thought I was going to die.i've never had to drink water that I thought in some way had been poisoned or was bacteria-laden enough to make me sick or even kill me. I've never been forced to drink cow urine for survival. While on any of my trips to Africa I've met or witnessed many, many people who have experienced all of these things on a daily basis. Many of our African friends have lost, or know of friends who have lost children and family members to waterborne disease. They say in Africa if you want to have 2 children, have 5 because of the death rate due to waterborne disease - caused by polluted water sources that are the only available sources for drinking and bathing. Africa 6000 International was created solely to provide clean, safe water to needy villagers and Africans through the drilling of deep, fresh water wells. These wells usually have a hand pump, and now more often than not have a solar pumping system. These water wells save lives. They save thousands of lives. They keep thousands and thousands of people, families, from suffering heartbreak and devastation due to the premature death of loved ones. We at Africa 6000 International are so happy to spend our days doing this...so grateful for the opportunity...so thankful for the many donors, partners and friends who make this possible. I have visited many of the villages where Africa 6000 International has provided clean water sources. The appreciation shown and the vast difference this water has made is priceless. Our sole mission is to raise funding to drill deep, clean, fresh water wells in great-to-desperate need regions in Africa where water is scarce and waterborne disease is an epidemic. We have separate fundraisers under the program. In 2014 we started an annual fundraiser in Naples-Collier County called "Swish Upon A Star". The next one will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Ritz- Carlton Beach Hotel in Naples, Florida. Long-Term Success With funds raised form Africa 6000 International in the last seven years we have been able to drill 53 clean water well projects and provided funding for several parts of water well projects. It is impossible to tell how many thousands of lives have been saved through the provision of these clean water sources, or how many hundreds of thousands of lives have been affected. One of our most recent projects included the drilling of 4 large water well projects in the Somali refugee camps in Kenya, just over the Somalia border. It is estimated between ,000 people are now receiving clean water from this effort. 4 Impact Goals What are your organization's long-term strategic goals? Our ultimate goal is to literally save lives. When we started Africa 6000 International, 6,000 children were dying daily from waterborne disease...that's one child every 14 seconds. Can you imagine not having water to drink and what you do have is contaminated? That is a huge reality in Africa.Since our inception, the number of child deaths due to waterborne disease is now around 5,000. Our goal is to drive that number down to zero! Currently we average the completion of six water well projects per year. We would like to increase that to ten. Strategies What are the major strategies you will do to accomplish your goals? Fundraising. Our goals are accomplished by raising funds to drill the clean water wells and add the pumping systems. We currently hold three large fundraisers per year and accept individual donations throughout the year. Capabilities What are your organization s capabilities for doing this? We are set up to operate as non-profit organization with a 501 (c)3 EIN number which makes it possible for wonderful partners, donors and friends to give a tax-deductible donation or to hold individual fundraisers on behalf of Africa 6000 International. We started this mission in Pennsylvania and have now made a home in Naples, Florida where our founder and some of his family also reside. The expansion broadens the mission and gives the wonderful people of southwest Florida opportunity to partner with us. Indicators What indicators do you use to measure progress? We will know our progress by the number of clean water well projects we are able to complete each year. Progress What have and haven t you accomplished so far? Since our inception, the number of children dying from waterborne disease on a daily basis has dropped by 1,000 children (from about 6,000 child deaths daily to now about 5,000). We realize there are other organizations helping to do this and we are so blessed to be part of the overall mission. What we have not accomplished is drilling enough fresh water wells to drive that number down to zero. That is our goal. 4
