The theme for all age groups this year is Libraries Rock! After you see what programs and events we have lined up for you this year, you ll understand why. When can I register for the library s summer reading program? Adults, children, and teens can register for the summer reading program starting on Thursday, May 24. The last day to register is Tuesday, July 31. How can I register for the library s summer reading program? All ages can register online by visiting our website at mylpl.info/summerreading. Then choose the appropriate age group: Adults, Children, or Teens. Children and teens may register at the Youth Services desk at any of our five branches. Adults may also register at the circulation or adult reference desks. What summer reading program should I register for? Livingston Parish Library hosts summer reading programs for adults, children, and teens. The children s program is open to babies - age 11. The teen program is for ages The adult program is for ages 18 and up. Whatever your age, the library has a summer reading program just for you! How do I complete the summer reading program? Children complete the summer reading program by reading 10 picture books or five chapter books. Books read aloud by parents count, so preschoolers and babies can participate too! Teens can read three books and/or attend three teen summer reading events to complete the program. Adults must read three books, ebooks, or audiobooks; and/or attend three summer reading events to complete the program. For more FAQs, please turn to Page 8. 2 Play With Us Brushbot Builders (Ages 8-11) Learn to build Brushbots, speeding bots that spin and glide across flat surfaces, powered by vibrating motors. Tween makers can create and customize their own bot to take home and compete against other bots at the library. She is a talented percussionist whose past work includes performing in the hit Off-Broadway show "STOMP." Her performance is energetic, interactive and fun for all ages. Follow the antics of two lovebirds and the havoc that ensues inside a local toyshop. See this exclusive performance at the Denham Springs-Walker Branch on Friday, June 8 at 1:30 p.m. Tri-Parish Ballet (All Ages) The Tri-Parish Ballet brings stories to life through dance with a multi-age troupe and colorful costumes. 8 Summer Reading Prizes Continued From Page 1 Who loves prizes? Silly question...everyone does! That s why this year, all patrons will receive prizes just for registering for the summer reading program! Of course, you ll also earn prizes for completing the program. Children who complete the program will receive a completion certificate, guitar tote bag, rock guitar scratch ornament, and more from our local sponsors. Continue reading to be entered into a grand prize drawing. Children up to the age of four can win a bicycle and Walmart gift card. Children 5-11 will be entered to win an Amazon tablet loaded with e-resources from the Livingston Parish Library. Teens who complete the program will earn a summer reading fidget cube, a Libraries Rock! bookmark, and prizes from our local sponsors. After you complete the program, keep reading or attending events to earn entries into our grand prize drawing of an Amazon tablet loaded with library e-resources and an AMC Theaters Gift Card. Adults who complete their summer reading program will receive either a Libraries Rock! tote bag or book light. In addition, weekly prizes will be drawn at each of our branches. Continue participating after completion for a chance to win this year s grand prize of a surprise gift basket stuffed with goodies from our local sponsors.
