Maybe you re sort of interested or just wondering what all the fuss over Japanese animated cartoons is about. Come to an Anime Addicts/Manga Maniacs meeting and step into a world of fantasy and fun. The Livingston Parish Library s first anime club, Anime Addicts/Manga Maniacs, started at the in October 2007 when youth services staff member Nora Melancon noticed an interest in those materials at the branch. Melancon, an anime lover herself, asked teens if they wanted to participate in a formal club, and Anime Addicts was born. 8 The presents Literacy Lollapalooza! We are holding several writing contests from Saturday, October 1 through Monday, October 31. All submissions will be judged and first, second, and third place winners will receive prizes. Winners will be announced on Monday, November 14. Please include your name, address, phone number, and address single-spaced at the top left margin of your submission. All submissions must have a centered title and double-spaced text. Page Turner Contest Hook readers with the first page of a story! Write and submit only the first page for our Page Turner contest. All submissions must be typed. This contest has divisions for years old, 13 to 16 years old, and 17 and up. Haiku Poetry Contest Write a haiku on any topic for our contest! A haiku is only three lines long and uses words to create an image. The first line contains five (5) syllables, the second line contains seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables. All submissions must be typed.
