The theme for the Children s Summer Reading Program is On Your Mark, Get Set...READ! You can sign up beginning Monday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m. How it works: Keep track of your reading throughout the week. After you ve read for two hours, choose a prize and receive a raffle ticket! (Only one raffle ticket and prize per child per week.) Read two hours per week for five weeks and receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of the grand prizes! (One grand prize ticket per child.) SUMMER READING KICK-OFF Monday, June 27 at 6:00 p.m. Come sign up for the Summer Reading Program and visit the Mini Ark Farms Petting Zoo! Play on the inflatable obstacle course! Enjoy a free ice cream sundae!

3 JULY CHILDREN S PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS STORYTIMES Toddler Time for Twos and Threes Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. June 27 through August 8 Rhymes, stories, music, flannel boards, coloring, and bubbles! Child must be 2 by the starting date. A parent or caregiver must attend with the child. Limit 10 children. 7 week session. Preschool Storytime for Ages 3-6 Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. June 28 through August 9 Stories, music, flannel board stories, fingerplays, nursery rhymes, coloring, sign language, games and bubbles! Children must be 3 by the starting date. Limit 15 children. 7 week session. PLAYGROUP Preschool Playgroup Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. June 30 through August 11 We ll provide the books, toys, puzzles, and crayons for parents and/or caregivers to enjoy with their young ones. Please feel free to bring siblings. This is a great opportunity for parents and kids to meet and have fun at the Library. Limit week session. *BEAN BAG BOOGIE (Ages 3-6) Monday, June 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Listen to stories about beans, bean bags, and more. Play games with bean bags! Limit 25 children. MAKE YOUR OWN MEDAL (Kindergarten - Grade 2) Wednesday, June 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Use clay to shape and design a medal. Decorate your medal with paint and add a ribbon so you can proudly wear it once it s dry. Limit 20 children. HEALTHY SNACKS (Kindergarten - Grade 2) Wednesday, July 6 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sometimes we get hungry and want a snack. Come to the Library to learn how to make delicious, healthy snacks that don t require a stove or oven. Limit 20 children. **WHO IS JACKSON POLLOCK? (Grades 3-6) Thursday, July 7 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Learn about the artist Jackson Pollock and the techniques he used to create his paintings. Children will then create their own Jackson Pollock inspired masterpiece. Led by Mary Beth Dolan. Limit 25 children. LEGO, GAMES, AND A MOVIE (Kindergarten - Grade 6) Friday, July 8 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Build with Legos, play board or Wii games. The movie COOL RUNNINGS (Rated PG) will also be playing during this time. SQUIRT GUN PAINTING AND PLAY (Grades 3-6) (Grades 3-4 at Noon, Grades 5-6 at 2 p.m.) Saturday, July 9 from Noon to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Learning grows at your local library, so give back by adding a "helping hand" to our new mural! Participants will help paint a large mural for the Library using fun techniques including squirt guns! Each participant will be provided safety glasses and a disposable poncho. We will then add our hand-prints to the mural to create a beautiful garden! The mural will be on display at the Lbrary through the summer. Led by Angelina Viveralli. Limit 10 children per session. *BE A NINJA (Ages 3-6) Monday, July 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Listen to stories about martial arts and ninjas. Move to the music and make a craft. BACKYARD HABITAT - SENECA PARK ZOO (Kindergarten - Grade 6) Thursday, July 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Learn about the many things you can do to preserve local wildlife. Learn about the fauna that can be found right in your own backyard. Live animals will be at the program! Led by The Wegmans Zoomobile. Limit 100 children. *LET S PLAY BALL (Ages 3-6) Monday, July 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Listen to stories about sports. Move to the music, do activities with sports balls and make a craft. Limit 25 children. AROUND THE WORLD REPTILES (Kindergarten - Grade 6) Tuesday, July 19 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come on a wildlife adventure! Discover an array of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrate from around the world. Presented by R.E.P.C.O. Wildlife. Limit 100 children. LEGO, GAMES, AND A MOVIE (Kindergarten - Grade 6) Friday, July 22 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Build with Legos, play board or Wii games. The movie THE MIGHTY DUCKS will also be playing during this time. BALLOON TWISTING (Grades 3-6) Saturday, July 23 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. This will be an introductory balloon twisting class that will go through safety, basic twists, and teach kids to make their own creations. Led by Michael Heisler. Limit 10 children per session. *DANCE PARTY (Ages 3-6) Monday, July 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Listen to stories about music and dancing! Dance to music and make a craft. Limit 25 children. **ZENTANGLE BOTTLES (Grades 6-12) Monday, July 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Paint a bottle with crazy designs and doodles called zentangles. Learn different patterns to use on your bottle and create some of your own! Add lights to your bottle to make a cool decoration for your room. Led by Kim Argenta. Limit 25. IT S ELECTRIC (Kindergarten - Grade 2) Tuesday, July 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Play with actual electricity! Learn about electricity by building circuits using lights and switches. AMERICAN FOLK TOYS (Kindergarten - Grade 2) Tuesday, August 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Before the days of television, video games, smartphones, and tablets kids had a much simpler way to stay entertained - they played with simple toys and used their imaginations. Make a ball and cup game and a whirligig and see what it was like to be a kid in the 1800s. Led by Trisha Riggi. Limit 20 children. HARRY POTTER POTIONS (Grades 3-6) Wednesday, August 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Brush up on some of your magic skills by brewing some potions. We ll learn how to make some Harry Potter favorites like Felix Felicis, Shrinking Solution, Polyjuice potion and more. We ll even make and sample some Butterbeer! Limit 20 children. LEGO, GAMES, AND A MOVIE (Kindergarten - Gr. 6) Friday, August 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Build with Legos, play board or Wii games. The movie THE BIG GREEN will also be playing during this time. FIELD DAY (Kindergarten - Grade 2) Tuesday, August 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Some times you just want to play! Come play classic outdoor games like red light/green light, sack races, hula hoop, and more! Led by Samantha Bortle. Limit 14 children. OMNIPRESENT PUPPET THEATER PRESENTS: THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE (All Ages) Wednesday, August 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Omnipresent Puppet Theater will be performing The Tortoise and the Hare. Tired of being picked on by a pushy rabbit, the tortoise challenges him to a race. As he second-guesses this rash decision, Tortoise suddenly gets help from an unexpected teacher. A tale of hard work, perseverance, and standing up for yourself. Touching and fun for all ages! Limit 75 children. *These programs are made possible by a grant from the Grigg Lewis Foundation.

6 TEEN SUMMER READING PROGRAM June 27 - August 12 This year s Teen Summer Reading Program theme is Get in the Game - READ! Teens in Grades 7-12 can register beginning Monday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m. or throughout the summer during regular Library hours. Track the books you read to receive prizes and raffle tickets. Write reviews or interact with the Library through social media to receive bonus raffle tickets. After reading FIVE books, participants will be eligible to come to the Teen Finale Party on Friday, August 12 at 12:00 p.m. Adult Reading Program! June 27 - August 12 This year s theme for the 2016 Adult Summer Reading Program is Exercise Your Mind - Read. Explore a variety of ways to improve your health and well-being, including fitness, nutrition and stress relief. The start date is Monday, June 27. Participants read library books to receive tickets for prize drawings. In this seven-week summer program, participants choose books from a genre or category. Keep track of the books you read. Eight raffle baskets will be displayed around the Library. Read a book and receive a raffle ticket. Enter that ticket for the basket you wish to win. You only need to read one book for a chance to win a basket. Participants who read three books receive a ticket to attend the finale on Friday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m.

WATERCOLOR FLOWERS (Adults) Wednesday, July 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bring your garden to life on paper at our watercolor painting class. Not artistic? Not a problem! This class is for everyone! BEAD CREATIONS (Adults) Saturday, July 30 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Make beautiful beaded bookmarks and purse charms using simple household items like beads, string, paper clips, and buttons. AUGUST TEEN & ADULT PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS **GLASS RAINBOWS (Grades 7-12) Thursday, August 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Rainbows mean different things to different people. Make a glass to create a beautiful rainbow to look at any time you want to, rain or shine. Led by The Oatka School of Glass. Limit 20. ADULT FINALE (Adults) Friday, August 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Read three books during the Summer Reading Program and receive a ticket to the finale party. This is a fun event to finish up the summer. There will be games, snacks, and prizes. Gift baskets will be raffled throughout the evening. TEEN FINALE PARTY (Grades 7-12) Friday, August 12 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Finish the Summer Reading Program and receive a ticket to come to the finale party. There will be crafts/activities and snacks.
