1 ASANSOL ENGINEERING COLLEGE (JV) sansol College,-a self financing institute, established in 1998 under e society of The Academy of Engineers (India). The College is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal, affiliated to WBUT, West Bengal and recognized by UGC, under section 2(f) UGC Act (1956). The college started wi four departments and 180 students. Now e college offers seven streams of B.Tech courses in, namely Electronics and Communication, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, Science &, Information Technology, Electrical, and Civil and ree Master degree courses, namely M.Tech in Electrical, M.Tech. in Electronic & Communication and Master of. Except ose AICTE-approved courses, anoer two University-approved courses namely BBA (H) and BCA also running wi e name of Asansol College. The Institute was sanctioned a financial grant under TEQIP phase I to improve learning outcomes and employability of graduates. The Institute got "AA" award by a reputed magazine rough e survey of Colleges in East and e Noreast India. The college is running in a wide land area, approx 17 acres wi more an 3000 students, more an 200 faculties and laboratory assistant, four multistoried buildings, ree multistoried building for boys and girls hostel, more an 150 class rooms & laboratory, individual seminar room for each department, 24 hours internet facility etc. The college aims at enhancing Post- Graduate education and Research & Development programs wi e attainment of academic autonomy and to achieve at aim it likes to restructure its curricula to make it flexible, learner-centric and industryoriented. The College feels at e achievement of academic excellence is e need of e hour and to attain at it, at first, likes to emphasize on strengening e existing PG programs and in e subsequent phase it likes to introduce more disciplines in PG education. While developing e PG program, e College likes also to give due priority towards doctoral research programs wi special emphasis on collaborative research wi oer institutions as well as wi e industries. Besides collaborative research, e college also likes to reap e benefit of its proximity to industries for IRG rough testing and consultancy so at it can sustain e reform and leap forward.

8 CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Science and 1. The CSE Department undertakes e following activities to enhance placement of students. a) Technical Grooming classes. b) Mock-interviews. c) Mock-online examinations (technical and aptitude). 2. The CSE Department constantly encourages students to choose topics of eir final year projects from upcoming research areas. The result is at some of e outstanding contributions from students carried out under e guidance of faculties have been published in IEEE Conference Proceedings in India and abroad as well. 3. The CSE Department undertakes e design and maintenance of e Asansol College Website. 4. The CSE Department has initiated a Tech Club for e students which will be responsible for hosting project development competitions every year. Students participating in such competitions will be able to improve eir skills which in turn will enhance eir job prospects. 5. The CSE Department has been constantly encouraging students to develop special utility software for e department and e college. In is context it is important to mention e following. a) The College Website was designed and is being currently maintained by students of e department. b) The students of e CSE Department have already developed an Online Examination Software which is fully in use for conducting various mock online examinations. 6. Faculties of e CSE Department are also taking classes in e Infosys Campus Connect course. 7. The CSE Department hosts and provides support to e different Online Examinations conducted by our largest student recruiter TCS. The department has developed and provided e college an Online Notice Display Software which enables students to view notices on e big television screen stationed in e front lobby. Information Technology 1. Two students of our department PRANAY BANERJEE and ABIR NAG achieve ranks across e globe in e CodeVita, e TCS Coding contest. 2. The preliminary round paper presentation competition was held on 3rd and 4 of September, 2013 in Asansol College. The Final TEN (10) teams Under e guidance of Dr. M.G.Tiary, Head of e Department of Electronics and Communication and Advisor, IEI Students' Chapter (ECE), e program started by lighting of lamp by e esteemed guests and inaugural speeches by e dignitaries present. 47 Engineers' day Inaugural of e event by Dr. R.Sahoo (Principal, AEC) Respected Head of e Department (ECE) Dr. M.G.Tiary declared e event open wi his introductory speech and sharing his motivational oughts wi e students. The events for e day were as follows:- 1. Paper presentation:- rd Two paper presentations were presented by e students of 3 year ECE department on to start e event for e day. Payel Hazra and Ravi Kant on exploring e eme for is year A truly excellent paper was put on to e present audience of students, faculty members and oer guests. 1. Technical film show:- To spread e message of modern engineering, a film show followed e paper presentations. An excellent documentary movie on manufacturing and industrial production of Bugatti Veron cars was shown to e budding engineers, e students. The movie was at e same time enjoyable as well as a source of great knowledge and inspiration for e audience. 2. Quiz competition:- A technical quiz competition was e next event to succeed. An exuberant quiz was conducted by Er. S.C.Puri (faculty coordinator, ECE) among e student members of IEI students chapter ECE, AEC. Quiz in full fledge st nd rd Six groups comprising students from 1, 2, and 3 year were selected as e finalist groups rough a prelim round organized earlier by e chapter. Through successive rounds of quizzing e final winners were chosen. 3. Group discussion:- The penultimate event on behalf of e chapter was an interaction session wi e student members and e committee was a sort of group discussion. Where e very st newest members to e chapter, e 1 year students were reimbursed about e chapter and it's working. Planning future policies The session focused on working out future plans for e chapter, making strategies on e furer functionality of e chapter. The short, yet productive session ended wi a presentation by rd Sambit Pal, (3 year, ECE) wi an anecdote on e upcoming grand event of e chapter, e Electronics Innovation 2.0, a national level circuit design and implementation competition.

Thus e engineer's day occasion was hugely celebrated by e students' chapter of IEI in ECE department. The department wishes to take ese ventures successfully in near days too. Each of e students participated in e process wi great zeal and enusiasm. A team of 16 persons from Sou Korea came to showcase eir culture and at e same time some of e students of Asansol College also participated in e programme and portrayed our culture. Inter - Departmental GD Competition On 24 of March, 2015 an Inter - Departmental Group Discussion Competition was organized to promote linguistic and communicative competency among e students rough beyond syllabus activities and edutainment programmes. Hiroshima Day [06/08/2011] The purpose of commemorating Hiroshima Day on 6 of August was to give a tribute to ose who lost eir lives on at day and a protest against e war mongers and also to improve e eical sensibility of e students. Inter Departmental Presentation Competition [23/04/2012] The purpose of organising Inter Departmental Presentation rd Competition on 23 April, 2012 was to celebrate World English Language day.
