2 Special Guest Michelle Hurst Born in Brooklyn, NY, Michelle Hurst has had an extensive career in film, television, and theatre, playing everything from judges, lawyers and doctors to irate mothers, ghostly slaves, and Henry James. She also does voice-over work, and narration at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her favorite movie role (so far) has been in Wayne Wang's "Smoke. 6 MAY DAY POSTER GUIDELINES Call for Posters Abstracts: Poster abstracts are now being accepted for the 2016 May Day Trauma Conference. Abstracts will be selected based on the following: defined purpose and goals, clear objectives, evaluation of data, clarity and clinical relevance to the care of the trauma patient. Accepted presenters must register for the conference and will be expected to be at their poster during specified viewing times. 7 Description / Purpose / Target Audience The 27th Annual May Day Trauma Conference continues the tradition of creating an annual forum utilizing nationally recognized experts in trauma care and emergency medical service systems. Designed to meet the needs of all health care professionals involved in the trauma care continuum, this year s presentations examine diverse subjects from evidence based practice and innovative advances in the care of injured patients. Objectives The information presented at this activity should improve your ability to: Examine contemporary clinical issues in life-threatening injuries in patients from the trauma environment. Implement the most recent advances in the pre-hospital, medical and nursing management of trauma patients. Use an organized approach to critical decision making with regard to trauma care issues. Describe the pathophysiology of specific injuries in caring for trauma patients. Continuing Education Credit Physicians: The School of Medicine of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The School of Medicine of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Continuing Education Credit (Continued) Other health professionals will receive a certificate of attendance from an AMA PRA Category 1 activity. These certificates are accepted by the NC Boards for physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists. Other health care providers may also be able to use these certificates, depending on their particular license requirements. (License requirements are subject to change. Participants should check with their licensing boards for specific questions. UNC and its partners are not responsible for changes in license requirements.) Registrations will not be processed unless accompanied by full payment. The registration deadline is April 29, Registrations submitted after this deadline will be considered a walk-in and incur an extra fee. When your registration is processed, you will receive an confirmation. Cancellations and Substitutions: Cancellations received after April 29, 2016 will not be refunded. An administrative fee of 25% will be deducted from all refunds. Substitutions will be accepted with advance notification and receipt of registration form for the substitute. Substitutions made after April 29, 2016 will be subject to an administrative fee of 25%.
