After almost 28 years of working here I must say good bye. I will miss the staff here and working with the Grant County 4-H Program. My work here has been a wonderful experience. I have met so many wonderful people. It is a great feeling to think that I may have had a small part in providing leadership, citizenship, responsibility and organizational skills to so many well deserving youth. You have all been a big part of my extended family not only here in the office but around the county. Although I will officially be done here in the office the end of December, I do plan on volunteering beside all the rest of you in helping to Make the Best Better. 7 4-Her and Volunteer of the Month 4-Her of the Month Logan Kramer Platteville Woodchucks 4-H Club My name is Logan Kramer and I am 14 years old. I have been a member of the Platteville Woodchucks for four years. My favorite 4-H project is creating dioramas. I enjoy this because I can be creative and make things look as realistic as possible. My recent accomplishments include winning 1 st place in the team diorama category at Grant County Fair, and being awarded Reserve American Class cockerel. My favorite part of 4-H is hanging out with friends at the fair and doing several projects. I enjoy learning leadership skills, and teaching younger people things such as how to complete a project. I decided to join 4-H in fourth grade because some of my friends were in it, and I also wanted to do projects for fairs and learn leadership skills. Volunteer of the Month Heidi Miesen Blockhouse Builders 4-H Club I am starting my 4 th year with the 4-H program. I started volunteering because I wanted to be apart of what my daughter chose to be involved in. It was a great way to connect in different areas she is interested in. I enjoy helping out with fundraising, promoting 4-H and club community service. I enjoy doing things that make a difference. The way I see it, being involved in the community service project that our club chooses is a great way to do this. My favorite thing about volunteering in 4-H is seeing the kids grow, not just my daughter, but all the kids. Seeing them change into young adults and becoming leaders. How each project they are involved in is molding who they are. I think 4-H is important for youth because it introduces projects and opportunities that on a day to day basis that may not be options for each of these kids otherwise. For youth to meet new 4-Hers in and outside of there county that can blossom into a life long friendship. I also think it is important for adults, we as adults need to show our youth how important they are to us. How we can pass down to them knowledge, respect, and serving our communities. 7

Photography - All in the Family What do you do when you share cameras with family members? How do you keep track of who took which photos? After talking with a few families, I have some ideas to offer. When sharing a camera and shooting together, take a photo or selfie of the person who is going to be taking the pictures next. Everything after is identified as taken by that photographer. With a shared camera, provide a memory card for each photographer. This is a great time of year to find deals on photography and camera accessories. Some families have a small point-and-shoot camera to use for most situations and a fancier camera for more advanced shooting. If you have multiple cameras, assign a camera to each photographer or use the designated memory cards for each photographer when sharing the cameras. Trying to keep track of all the photos can be a challenge. When you store the photos on your computer or phone, put them in a separate folder labeled with each photographer's name. You can further organize your photos with subject folders in the photographer's main folder. Always keep your original photo file as your master file. If you want to edit your file, make a copy and work with it. If you change your original file, you have lost that digital information forever. We'll be having our next meeting in January, so watch the ECHO for details. Remember to keep taking pictures so you have more to choose from when the fair rolls around again. Eileen Dushek-Manthe - Photography leader 9
