7 4-Her and Volunteer of the Month 4-Her of the Month Ashley Neis- Town & Country Kids 4-H Club Hi my name is Ashley Neis, I am 14 years old and a Freshman at Cuba City High School where I am involved in volleyball and am also a FFA member. This is my eighth year as a member of the Town & Country Kids 4-H Club where I currently serve as President. In the past, I have served as Sgt of Arms, Treasurer and Vice President. The projects I am involved in are Beef, Dioramas, Photography, Ceramics, K nex, Arts and Crafts, Crocheting and Youth Leadership. My favorite project is Beef because of the time I get to work with my animal from raising it as a calf, to the finished full grown animal. My favorite part of 4-H is getting to meet new people at 4-H events and the Grant County Fair. I also enjoy helping and mentoring the younger members in our club with their projects and giving them creative ideas and advice. This year my team placed second at the Junior High FFA Quiz Bowl. The reason I joined 4-H is because my brother was a member. My entire family is involved in 4-H and it makes us do things together. Through the years 4-H has helped me evolve into the somewhat outgoing person I have become today. 4-H Volunteer of the Month Mark Donar - Town & Country Kids 4-H Club I started in 4-H by being in the Georgetown Boosters 4-H Club for 24 years when I was younger. When my oldest son, Justin, was in 4-H a few kids asked me to be the swine leader. Although I help a lot in the beef project, I enjoy all the projects. My favorite part about volunteering is to see kids grow, find a new interest and watching kids learn and guide them in a good direction. I enjoy seeing them grow up and what they do and how 4-H might have influenced their decision. 4-H has a wide range of opportunities that some kids don t even know that s out there. There are so many fields connected to 4-H that it s not just ag related. 7
