2 Resolve Through Sharing October 25 26, 2017 Bereavement Training: Perinatal Death Training focus Perinatal death through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, and newborn death Purpose The purpose of this training is to provide participants with a rich educational experience that enhances their knowledge, level of skill, and personal awareness while providing care to families whose baby dies. A baby dies... This comprehensive, evidence-based, and person-centered training and the RTS Model of bereavement care support the Triple Aim and ACO requirements for consistent delivery of quality patient care. You ll learn ways to incorporate RTS concepts into everyday practice that care teams and leadership will find invaluable. This course is recommended to prepare for the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center s perinatal loss care certification exam. 4 Resolve Through Sharing October 27, 2017 Coordinator Training (train-the-trainer) NEW Curriculum In this 1-day workshop you will learn how to provide in-services and teach RTS Bereavement Training: Perinatal Death, Neonatal and Pediatric Death, or Pediatric and Adult Death to staff within your healthcare system using Resolve Through Sharing resources. You will also learn the skills you need to establish an interprofessional bereavement program and maintain bereavement care as a best practice. Pre-requirement RTS Bereavement Training: Perinatal Death, Neonatal and Pediatric Death, or Pediatric and Adult Death Please Note: This pre-requirement is mandatory to attend Coordinator Training. Purpose The purpose of this workshop is to provide individuals trained in the concepts of RTS with knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement a comprehensive RTS perinatal, neonatal and pediatric, or pediatric and adult bereavement program. REGISTER at About the Faculty Education Credit Marie Walter, MS, RN, C-EFM, CPLC Clinical Nurse Specialist, Labor and DeliveryLead Educator, Resolve Through Sharing Gundersen Health System La Crosse, WI Marie worked as a clinical nurse specialist in the obstetrics department at Gundersen Health System for 35 years as part of an interprofessional team providing care to women with high-risk pregnancies. In February, 2016, Marie assumed the role of RTS lead educator. In 2015, Marie led the interdisciplinary team and developed protocols and standard operating procedures for implementation of the nitrous oxide pain management program in labor and delivery at Gundersen. Marie serves as Gundersen s liaison for perinatal palliative care and has been the chair of the Advanced Degree Nurse Committee for the past 10 years. As part of her inpatient responsibilities, Marie serves as the bereavement coordinator for her unit. In 2011, Marie received the Wisconsin Association of Perinatal Care President s Award for her commitment to the health of women and babies in Wisconsin. Dana H. Brantley, (ret.) Lt Col, RNC, BSN, MA, CLNC, CT CT National Faculty, Resolve Through Sharing Owner, DB Genealogical Services, Roseburg, OR Oregon Trail Council Boy Scouts of America, Lead Health Officer, Eugene, OR Dana has 20 years of RTS experience as coordinator and educator. She joined the Resolve Through Sharing National Faculty in January Dana brings 30 years of experience including service as a United States Air Force (USAF) officer. She provided care for labor and delivery, postpartum, nursery, pediatrics, inpatient and outpatient pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and immunization clinics. She also commanded the largest USAF medical/nursing training squadron in the US and abroad. After military service, Dana was the director of Mercy Hospital s inpatient labor and delivery, neonatal ICU and postpartum unit, and she led and pioneered the Umpqua Community College s nursing simulation lab obstetrics and gynecology/pediatric scenarios and nursing instruction. Dana is certified through the Association of Death Education and Counseling and maintains her Advanced Chief Nurse Executive Certificate and Research Genealogical Certificate from Boston University. Nursing contact hours Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, Inc., is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. The three online modules provide 1 contact hour each. California Provider (Gundersen Lutheran Bereavement and Advance Care Planning Services) approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider #12245, for contact hours for Resolve Through Sharing Bereavement Training: Perinatal Death, 7 contact hours for Resolve Through Sharing Coordinator Training, and 1 contact hour each for the three online modules. Social work continuing education hours Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, Inc., provider #1089, is approved as a provider for continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards. aswb.org. ASWB Approval period: Nov. 14, 2015 Nov. 14, Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, Inc., maintains responsibility for the program. These programs provide 15.3 contact hours for Resolve Through Sharing Bereavement Training: Perinatal Death, 8.4 contact hours for Resolve Through Sharing Coordinator Training, and 1.2 contact hours for each of the three online modules. Other disciplines will receive a certificate of attendance. To receive contact/continuing education (CE) hours, nurses, social workers and chaplains must be present for each full day of training (no partial credit will be given).
