4 Resolve Through Sharing April 20, 2017 Coordinator Training (train-the-trainer) Purpose The purpose of this workshop is to provide individuals trained in the concepts of RTS with knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement a comprehensive RTS perinatal, neonatal and pediatric, or pediatric and adult bereavement program. Emphasis is placed on change theory, eliciting support, teaching strategies, and leadership skills. Objectives Discuss a framework for successful RTS bereavement care implementation Describe elements of Diffusion of Innovation Theory to implement change Identify an effective approach to elicit support Identify four characteristics of adult learners Describe useful strategies for effective presentations Identify four techniques for maintaining administrative support Who should attend? In this 1-day workshop you will learn how to provide in-services and teach RTS Bereavement Training: Perinatal Death, Neonatal and Pediatric Death, or Pediatric and Adult Death to staff within your healthcare system using Resolve Through Sharing resources. You will also learn the skills you need to establish an interprofessional bereavement program and maintain bereavement care as a best practice. Pre-requirement 1. 5 Harbor City, CA REGISTER at About the Faculty Marcia Jenkins, RN, CPLC Rockville, IN Marcia served as the Bereavement Coordinator at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis for 20 years, and she spent 23 years as part of their labor and delivery staff. She has been an RTS Coordinator for nearly 25 years and was part of the curriculum development team for the RTS Pediatric and Adult Bereavement training. Marcia has received many awards, including the Indianapolis Star Salute to Nurses Nurse of the Year. She is the co-author of the book, Companioning at a Time of Perinatal Loss.. Amy Creamer, LMHC, CPLC Perinatal Bereavement Coordinator Sisters of Charity Hospital-Catholic Health Buffalo, NY Amy holds a Master s degree in Mental Health Counseling. She provides grief counseling during perinatal loss to the patients, families, and staff of Sisters of Charity Hospital. Her work as coordinator of perinatal bereavement includes facilitating education within her hospital system, holding burial services for families, and providing postpartum care for families after discharge. Amy facilitates support groups for stillbirth, miscarriage, and pregnancy. She also provides individual, couples, and family counseling to persons in the Buffalo community. Amy holds a certification in Compassionate Bereavement Care through the MISS Foundation. Additionally, she sits on the planning committee of the Western New York Perinatal Bereavement Network, which works to improve the care given to patients in thirteen local hospitals.
