2 ABOUT US CDSC is a private, not-for-profit, community-based organization estabished in 1975 to provide a range of socia services to famiies in Centra Brookyn, New York. CDSC's motto, Buiding Communities by Strengthening Famiies, is a constant reminder of our mission: "to provide programs that empower famiies by heping them to acquire the knowedge and skis necessary for successfu iving in today's society." 3 NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS ON-LINE TRAINING MUST BE PRE-APPROVED The new Socia Services aws changed icensing and registration periods from two years to four years, but your 30 hours of required training is sti on a two-year cyce. Thirty hours of training is required every two years. The oder they are, the ess effective they become. A date is printed or stamped on the back of the aarm. Experts recommend buying a new one if the date is 10 years or oder. Remember to check the batteries as we. Research by the Nationa Fire Protection Association (NFPA) indicates that whie 94% of American homes have at east one smoke aarm, more than 1/3 are inoperabe because of dead or missing batteries. 4 TRAINING CODES A chid care providers registered or icensed through the NYS Office of Chidren and Famiy Services or by the NYC Department of Heath and Menta Hygiene, must meet training requirements in the foowing mandated content areas to renew their registration or icense. In Person: Come to our office between the hours of 9:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday with the corresponding non-refundabe cass deposit. If the cass is fu, you wi be notified immediatey for pacement in the next avaiabe cass. Payment Methods: We accept cash, money orders, business checks and EIP award etters. If you are using an EIP grant to pay for your training, we must receive the award etter before you can participate in the cass. If you are paying with a business check, pease note that you are responsibe for bank fees if a check is returned. You wi receive a certificate upon check cearance. No persona checks accepted! Financia Aid: You may be eigibe for schoarship funds from OCFS that are avaiabe through the Educationa Incentive Program (EIP). EIP is a schoarship program designed to hep chid care providers obtain the training and education they need to provide quaity care to chidren. To request an EIP appication, ca or go to *If you are a egay exempt/informa chid care provider and are receiving HRA subsidized chid care payments, you may be eigibe for a training schoarship. Ca us for more information. Canceation and Credit: Canceations must be made at east 3 days prior to the training session. A credit wi be issued for advanced canceations or if canceation was made by CDSC. The credit can be appied to another CDSC training cass and must be used within 3 months of issue. No cash refunds wi be given. Certificates: A certificate of attendance wi be provided to each attendee after the competion of training and receipt of fu payment. Certificates wi incude the name of the workshop, the date of attendance and the actua number of training hours competed. Certificates for video conference attendees wi be maied directy to participants by SUNY within 3-6 weeks from training date. Attendees must receive a score of 70% or higher on the SUNY post-training quiz in order to be eigibe to receive a certificate. Heath & Safety and MAT Rebate Forms: A rebate form wi be issued to a eigibe attendees. You must successfuy pass a the heath and safety and medication administration training competencies before receiving a rebate form. Chidren: Chid care is not avaiabe and chidren wi not be aowed in the training sessions. 7 ON-GOING CLASSES New York State Heath & Safety Competency Training To ensure that new providers are prepared for the responsibiity of caring for chidren, they must compete a 15-hour Heath and Safety training approved by the NYS Office of Chidren and Famiy Services in order to obtain a icense or registration. RC: 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 6, 8, 9 / FA: 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, 13 / A Dates: Monday-Wednesday, October 10-12; October 24-26; November 14-16; November and Tuesday-Thursday, December Time: 9:30 am - 4:30 pm Cost: $240 Registration Fee: $40 Baance: $200 New York State Medication Administration Training (MAT) MAT is a competency-based course approved by the NYS Office of Chidren and Famiy Services to train chid care providers to safey administer medication in their programs. The training incudes written tests and a demonstration of competency. RC: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 / FA: 1, 2, 11, 12, 13 / A Dates: Thursday - Friday, December 8-10 Time: Day 1: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Day 2: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Cost: $190 Registration Fee: $50 Baance: $140 HEALTH AND SAFETY REBATE Upon successfu competion of the Heath and Safety Training, eigibe participants are issued a Heath and Safety Training Rebate appication to access up to $235 of training cost. The rebate program is administered through the Office of Chidren and Famiy Services (OCFS). A prospective providers, and providers who have not provided chid care for more than two (2) years, are encouraged to take this training. Infant & Todder Program: Training and professiona deveopment opportunities for infant/todder staff, program directors and famiy chid care providers is avaiabe through our Infant Todder Program. Our biingua Infant Todder Speciaist is avaiabe to give you information on caring for infants and todders, offer access to the resource ibrary and provide technica assistance for potentia and existing providers regarding best practices, reguatory requirements and program accreditation. Program Grant Information: Funding is avaiabe to new, existing and egay exempt chid care providers via the New York State Office of Chidren and Famiy Services. These grants are awarded to promote safe and heathy chidcare environments and enhance programs to promote eary iteracy and schoo readiness. Providers can receive $500, $200, or $75 to cover the cost of toys, books and other eigibe expenses. Grants are imited and are based on income eigibiity. YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR UP TO $2,000 TO HELP PAY FOR YOUR TRAINING The Educationa Incentive Program (EIP) is a schoarship program which heps providers pay for high quaity training and education they need to provide quaity care to chidren. Chid care providers must be required to take training and be caring for chidren in a program reguated by the New York State Office of Chidren and Famiy Services or the New York City Department of Heath. EIP has two separate appication submission periods intended to provide a more baanced aocation of funds for the entire EIP schoarship year. The course dates written on your appication must match the actua training dates you attend and fa within the correct submission period. You can appy if you are currenty caring for chidren as a: registered famiy chid care provider icensed group famiy chid care provider or assistant (substitutes are not eigibe) chid care cassroom staff in a registered schoo-age program chid care cassroom staff in a icensed chid care center or Head Start program. OR direct supervisor of any of the above chid care staff. Eigibiity is based on your empoyment status, eve of income and course or training you choose.
