This is designed as a stand-alone session for experienced clinicians already performing IUD placements or as part 2 for participants in the morning practicum session. Discussion begins with patient-centered IUD counseling tips and nuances of informed consent. Following this, successful strategies for dealing with difficult IUD placements will be presented. These include placements in obese patients, patients with fibroids, and traversing the challenging internal os. Pain prevention and management during outpatient procedures, responding to IUD complaints and side effects, and prevention and management of IUD complications will be discussed in detail. An interactive discussion regarding efficient practices for same-day IUD placement, as well as case studies in coding and reimbursement, will close the session.
