In 1968, our organization was founded on the belief that access to sexual and reproductive health is an essential part of a healthy society. Today, our work touches the lives of millions of women across the country. Our goal for Women s Health Update 2018 is to provide the most current information on hot topics in sexual and reproductive health care. We also want to create a space for health care professionals to learn, share, network and recharge. Most importantly, we hope participants return to their health settings better connected, and even more prepared to provide the high-quality, essential services patients need and deserve. 3 CONFERENCE SCHEDULE PRE-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24, :0 AM Pre-Conference Registration / Exhibits / Networking 9:00-12:00 Pre-Conference A IUD Placement + Removal (Rx = hrs.) Practicum participants will receive background information and learn placement techniques for five intrauterine devices currently available: Mirena, ParaGard, Skyla, Liletta and Kyleena. Hands-on practice will be supervised by experienced preceptors. 9:00-12:00 Pre-Conference B Nexplanon Placement + Removal Practicum attendees will learn how to identify appropriate patients, prepare patients and manage technical issues. They will also receive hands-on, supervised instruction on the latest techniques for placement, localization, removal and re-insertion of Nexplanon (etonogestrel implant) using an artificial model.. This session, sponsored by Merck, is not accredited for continuing education credit. The training is open to advanced practice clinicians with furnishing numbers or prescribing privileges in their state and physicians only. It is Merck's policy to verify all clinicians' practice, licensure and eligibility information in advance of the training. Merck will contact attendees directly if there is a problem regarding this process. Attendees are expected to be present for the entire training. With the federal government's renewed emphasis on FABMs, this session will provide information about six different types of FABMs available and how to discuss them with women interested in natural family planning options. :00-4:0 Pre-Conference F Contraception for Women with Complex Medical Conditions (Rx = hrs.) Using the 2016 updates of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Medical Eligibility Criteria (MEC) for Contraception and the CDC Selected Practice Recommendations (SPR), this session will provide case studies to explore best practices for women with a variety of chronic medical conditions. In addition, contraception (and menstrual bleeding management) for women with developmental disabilities will be reviewed. 4:0 PM Adjourn The IUD clinical practica is one of the best workshops I have attended!
