2 Letter to our readers Dear Patrons, We are excited to announce that after a long and thorough search, we have selected Dr. Roger Podell as the new Executive Director for the Cold Spring Harbor Library. Dr. Podell brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and is very highly regarded in the education and library communities. We are proud to have him join us, and be our new leader. We would greatly like to thank Diane Scinta for stepping in as interim director during our search. Diane will continue to head our Children s Department, and will assume the role of Assistant Director. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Roger Podell as our new Executive Director. On display December 30 through January 28. PAINTING WITH PASTELS STUDENT EXHIBITION Marie Sheehy-Walker s students will exhibit a sampling of their pastel paintings. On display January 30 through February 25. Reception: Sunday, February 7, 2:00-4:00 p.m. YEAR-END SUPPORT In the last library newsletter, the Library Foundation inserted a contribution envelope. We are very grateful for your generosity. Funds from the Foundation enable special performances, Summerfest, and museum passes. Contribution envelopes are always available at the library. LIBRARY BUDGET VOTE & TRUSTEE ELECTION Tuesday, April 5, 9:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Petitions are now available for any qualified resident who is interested in a position on the Cold Spring Harbor Library Board of Trustees. The qualifications for Library Board candidates are U.S. Citizenship, 18 years of age, and residency within the Cold Spring Harbor Central School District for at least one year prior to the election. The term for trustees is three years. Petitions can be obtained from the Election Clerk, Susan Tyska, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Completed petitions are due Monday, March 7, by 5:00 p.m. BECOME A LIBRARY TRUSTEE Do you love your community and your library?
