2 Letter from the Director Dear Residents, March and April will be exciting months at the Library, with many enjoyable and educational programs available for all ages. As you browse through our newsletter, I m sure you ll find programs of interest to you and your family. Throughout March, we will be exhibiting the artwork of our talented K-8 students, with a reception on March 22. April will feature two Signature Events: the Cradle of Aviation s portable planetarium will be here April 3 for an amazing look at the universe through digital technology, and Neal Stuart and The Empire State will play hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s on April 15. Our Budget Vote and Trustee Election will be held on Tuesday, April 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Vote Day activities will include a performance of Sleeping Beauty by Plaza Theatrical, a Donut Decorating program, and much more. It is also Amnesty Day all overdue fines will be waived! Please come down to the Library on April 10 to cast your vote. I look forward to seeing you at the Library! Sincerely, Dr. Roger Podell Q. Yes, the Budget Review & Meet the Candidates meeting will be on Monday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m. Q. Where do I vote? Budget Vote FAQs A. You vote in the library on Tuesday, April 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Q. Who is eligible to vote? A. All residents of the CSH School District who are registered to vote in the school district s annual budget vote are eligible to vote in the CSH Library election. Call Election Clerk, Susan Tyska, at (631) , x501 for details. Q. I will be away on April 10. Can I get an absentee ballot? A. Yes, if you are unable to vote in person, you may apply for an absentee ballot. Applications will be available at the Circulation Desk and on our website after March 1. OPERATION MEDICINE CABINET Wednesday, March 21, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Clean out your medicine cabinet! Safely drop off your unwanted, unused, or expired medications at the library through this Suffolk County Police program. No needles or liquid medications; please remove medications from original packaging and place in a plastic bag. MEETING ROOMS AVAILABLE FOR BUSINESS USE The library s Large and Small Meeting Rooms are available for business use for a reasonable fee. The Large Meeting Room has a maximum occupancy of 90 people, while the Small Meeting Room holds up to 20. The Large Meeting Room has an adjacent kitchen if you want to serve refreshments. 3 Children s Programs Registration with a Cold Spring Harbor Library card is ongoing for all programs. Children should be the appropriate age for each program. Caregivers are required to remain in the library during all children s programs. RECORDING BROADWAY WITH THOMAS Z. SHEPARD Thursday, March 1, 2:00 p.m. A behind-the-scenes look at Broadway with Thomas Z. Shepard, winner of 12 Grammy Awards. Shepard is arguably America s preeminent producer of Broadway cast albums and has worked with most of Broadway s luminaries. THE VIC VINCENT GROUP Sunday, March 4, 2:00 p.m. The Vic Vincent Group will provide a musical tribute to the great artists of rock n roll, doo-wop, and pop, with an emphasis on music from your favorite movies. You ll hear selections from Jersey Boys, Back to the Future, A Bronx Tale, American Graffiti, Blackboard Jungle, Grease, The Lion King, and much more. Come for the trivia, jokes, costumes, and props reflecting the music and events of those times. ZIG ZAG THEATER PRODUCTION WORKSHOP: OUR TOWN Mondays, March 5-May 14, 12:00-2:00 p.m. Participants will prepare for a performance of Our Town, which will be presented in the Readers Theater style, so there is no line memorization required. All parts are open and everyone will get a part. Auditions will be held on Monday, March 5.
