3 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis de Sales Parish, On Father s Day, I call to mind my own father who passed away just a few years ago. I remember him teaching me to swim, to fish and ride a bike. I have fond memories of playing catch with him on the front lawn. I recall working with him on the farm, bailing hay and milking cows. These are simple memories, but they are precious to me. My father always did his best to provide for our family, making sure we had the necessities of life. He taught us children to work hard and be responsible. He encouraged us to get a good education and to be resourceful. He showed us the importance of our faith by his faithfulness to Sunday Mass and daily prayer. He gave us an example of self-giving and sacrifice when our mother went through a long period of illness before her death, and he became her care-giver, taking on the household duties that she was no longer able to perform. What a blessing fathers are in our lives! No, they are not perfect, and we might not always agree with their point of view. But their wisdom, love and guidance can be an irreplaceable positive force in our lives. I want to wish a Happy Father s Day to all fathers, grandfathers, and those who are father figures in the lives of others. May God continue to shower his blessings upon you! God s Blessings, Fr. Jim Schuerman Queridos Miembros de la Parroquia de San Francisco de Sales, Hoy es el Día del Padre, y en este día recuerdo mi propio padre que falleció hace unos años. Tengo buenas memorias de él. Me enseño como nadar, pescar, y manejar una bicicleta, y jugar beisbol. También, tengo buenas memorias acompañándole en la cosecha, y ordeñando las vacas. Son memorias sencillas pero preciosas. Mi padre siempre trabajaba mucho para darnos las necesidades de la vida. Nos enseñaba como trabajar y ser responsables. Él querría que nos lográramos una buena formación académica. Nos enseñaba la importancia de nuestra fe por medio de su fidelidad a la Misa dominical y la oración cotidiana. Nos mostraba un ejemplo de auto sacrificio cuando mi madre pasaba por años de enfermedad antes de morirse. Él le cuidaba con amor, y tomaba responsabilidad por los quehaceres de la casa. Que Dios los bendiga a nuestros padres! No son perfectos, y no estamos siempre de acuerdo con su punto de visita. Pero su sabiduría y amor son fuerzas positivas en nuestras vidas. Quiero felicitar a nuestros padres en el Día de los Padres. Que Dios les de alegría y paz! As always, proceeds from this Side by Side fundraiser will go to needy families who live in the Badger high School district. Funds are used to help with rent, utilities, and prescription drug costs. 6 CATHOLIC CENTRAL GRADUATES It is with deep gratitude, that the 52 recent graduates of Catholic Central High School wish to thank the Parish for its support in helping them achieve a Catholic secondary education that has also brought the following rewards: The completion of thousands of hours of community service throughout southeast Wisconsin; Merit scholarships for many, totaling more than $3 million; Acceptance by some of the finest colleges and universities across the country.
