3 HEAT UP WISCONSIN PROGRAM We need your help and that of your parish! We all know that many families are in a position to need a helping hand. In our economy, many people have lost jobs, are veterans, are disabled or ill, or are elders on a limited income. Although someone may own a home, they cannot always afford to replace an old, inefficient furnace which only adds to their burden by running up the energy bills. If you know someone who is in need of a new furnace, please nominate them for the Lennox Heat UP Wisconsin Program. Dealers will install up to 100 Lennox furnaces completely free to the chosen recipients. Nominations due by Aug. 28, For more information, please visit FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP July 31, 2016 Parish Envelopes $6, Offertory $4, Capital Campaign $55.00 Angel Fund $ Human Concerns $ Online $1, (The Angel Fund benefits families of our day school program who need tuition assistance.) 4 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis de Sales Parish, In today s Gospel, Jesus teaches us about the importance of service using the parable of the faithful steward, whom his master upon arrival finds carrying out dutifully his appointed tasks. The true servant is one who serves out of love and expects no recompense and no special treatment. Jesus tells us that the master will be well pleased with this servant, and put him in charge of all his property. The parable s meaning is very clear. Those who carry out the Lord s will out of love for Him and demonstrate their love by works of mercy toward others are those who the Lord calls His own. I would like to congratulate the young people of our parish who participated in two recent events oriented toward prayer and service the Steubenville Youth Conference in Kenosha and the Youth Mission Trip to Harlan, Kentucky. Your dedication to prayer and praise and works of charity and mercy is an inspiration! Thank you to all the adult chaperons who took part in these events! God s Blessings, Fr. Jim Schuerman ST. FRANCIS DE SALES BIBLE STUDY School is back in session and it is also time for the Fall Bible Study class to begin. Our study this session will be the Gospel of St John and the Johannine Letters. The Gospel of St. John follows Jesus through his public ministry of signs that lead to His passion, death, resurrection and ultimate ascent to the glory of His heavenly Father. This will be a 15 week session that will start on Wednesday, Sept. 7 and will end on Dec. 14. We meet at 10 a.m. each Wednesday in the Parish Hall. Cost for the session is $ If you are interested in joining us or learning more about our group, please contact Pat Cramer at (262) or kcramer8407@gmail.com. We always welcome new members. You do not have to be a Bible expert, we all are learners and enjoy learning about the Bible together. Hope you can join us!
5 THANK YOU FROM THE LAKE GENEVA KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Thank you everyone who volunteered with the Knights of Columbus at the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days on July 19, 20 & 21. The Lake Geneva Knights of Columbus collaborated with the Elkhorn Knights of Columbus to staff a food tent at this event nearly a year ago. The profits from the sale of food and beverages would be used for each of our charitable endeavors. We later picked up 3 beverage tents and 1 ice cream tent for this 3 day event. Over 140 individuals, working 1,350 hours, assisted in planning, set-up, parking, delivery, food prep, runners, cashiers, greeters, stockers, coordinators, ice cream, beverage and clean up/ take down. Some people worked a few hours, some worked all 3 days of the event. Everyone s efforts made this a success. Extreme heat, questionable weather and less than anticipated attendance is a disappointment for the event. Our share of the profits will not be known for about 8 weeks, but, we will report them to you as soon as we know. All the profits that the Lake Geneva Knights of Columbus receive, will be donated to St. Francis de Sales Parish for Project 2017 and the upcoming renovation of the church. We are proud to have worked with so many fine people who shared their time and talent in a worthwhile project. Thank you for your friendship, your devotion to a worthy cause, and your cooperation during this entire process. Each of you made a wonderful contribution to our parish community.
