SHEPHERDS OF CHRIST ASSOCIATES PRAYER GROUP We invite you to come for an hour of prayer during this Jubilee Year of Divine Mercy. We meet most Wednesdays to pray for the priests, the Church, and the world. We will not meet during the Christmas season. We will meet again weekly beginning Jan. 13, at 11:15 a.m.

3 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Francis de Sales Parish, At Christmastime, we focus our energy and attention on the family. We spend a lot of time looking for the right gift for each family member. We look forward to having the whole family gathered around the table for Christmas dinner. We spend hours on the phone reconnecting with family members who are far from home. Today we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family. It is a day in which we honor the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, who model for us the virtues of family life patience, understanding, compassion, obedience, perseverance, love, and faithfulness. As we begin a New Year, let s put those virtues into practice at home. This feast reminds us that as families, we are not called to be perfect, but to be holy, learning to put others needs before our own, learning the ways of love and mutual respect, learning to be encouraging, supporting and helpful toward one another. May we allow the gift of love to grow in our families throughout the New Year! May the Holy Family be our model and guide in 2016! God s Blessings, Fr. ANNUAL CHILI COOK-0FF MARK THIS DATE Chili, Chili, Chili...The Annual St Francis De Sales Chili Cook-0ff will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Social Center. Do you think you have a great secret chili recipe or just think you make the best chili ever? Bring along a pot of your favorite chili and your recipe to this event. Everyone will be able to taste and to vote for the best chili St Francis has to offer. Sign up sheets for chili maker volunteers and helpers will be posted in the chapel foyer in mid December. Mark this date on your calendars...a warm bowel of chili and a night of fellowship will be something to look forward to in the cold month of January. WATCH the Weekly Bulletin for further details. THANK YOU Dear Human Concerns Committee of SFDS, WOW! Thank you so much for your generous donation to the Lake Geneva Food Pantry. With your help we were able to help 247 families in our community to put food on their table in November. That number is made up of 455 adults and 229 children, real faces, real people right here by us who need your help in feeding their families. The Pregnancy Helpline of Walworth County (262) Save the Date: Pregnancy Helpline Annual Spring Banquet; April 15, SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE - NEW MEMBER NEEDED Are you looking for a way to share your time and talent while promoting Catholic Education? The School Advisory Committee is looking to fill two open member positions. Meetings are held every 4th Monday of the month during the school year. Members serve a three year term. School Advisory assists the principal and pastor with policy development, educational goals and objectives of the school, budget planning and public relations. It is a great opportunity to contribute to the success of the school while staying informed. You don t need to have a child in the school to serve, just an interest in helping our school succeed! 6 CLIMB YOUNG ADULT RETREAT Come take a weekend away from everyday distractions to rest, pray, deepen your relationship with God, and connect with other young adults. Brew City Catholic (the young adult ministry initiative of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee) invites young adults (18-35) married and single to our first annual Climb Retreat, 7 p.m. Feb. 5 noon Feb. 7 at the Schoenstatt Retreat Center in Waukesha. LIVING MERCY EVENT: CONCRETE WAYS TO HEAL A WOUNDED WORLD Please join us on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 at the Cardinal Stritch University Klieban Conference Center, 6801 N. Yates Road, Glendale for an engaging event on the Corporal Works of Mercy and how to live them in practical ways. Come either 8:00 a.m.-noon or 6:00-8:30 p.m. for a keynote by Kerry Weber, author of the book, Mercy in the City, and a chance to network with 18 local agencies practicing the Corporal Works of Mercy. The morning session also includes two rounds of breakout sessions to explore how to live mercy. The extended morning session requires registration and a fee of $20. LAKE GENEVA CLOTHES CLOSET Gently used clothing for children, teens, women and men is available free at the Clothes Closet at the Methodist Church in Lake Geneva. Hours are 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays. All are welcome. No proof of need is necessary. No limit on number of items taken or number of visits. Donations of gently used clothing and bedding are gratefully accepted. Tax receipt available.
