Mass. During the Holy Hour we pray for priests, for vocations and for victims of clergy sexual abuse. Saint Agnes Month s Mind Bereavement Mass As an expression of sympathy, every month Saint Agnes Parish celebrates a Month s Mind Mass to remember the parishioners whose Funeral Masses were celebrated during the previous month. Today the Month s Mind Mass remembers Eleanor L. Sliney, Ruth M. Lyons, John William Ahern, Mary Desmond, Roy K. Publicover, Elizabeth J. Dolan, Joseph J. Pellegrino, Carol Roper, Robert L. Dorrington, Marguerite A. Sullivan, Emma J. Mulcahey, Nancy A. Gradie and Dorothy Fitzgerald. Census forms are at the back of the Church. Our Adult Choir will resume leading the music at the 10:30 Mass Sunday on Sunday, September 10. We resume our weekly 7:00 PM Tuesday evening rehearsals on Tuesday, September 12 ; no rehearsal on Tuesday, September 5. If you ve been thinking about singing with the choir, please come and sit in on any Tuesday evening rehearsal in the upper Church choir loft, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, beginning September 12. Peter 4:9 The Boston Sock Exchange Ministry serves our homeless brothers and sisters on Boston Common. Please remember the homeless who would benefit from the seasonal clothing you no longer require. Please bring men s and women s seasonally-appropriate clothing donations to the Church or the Parish Center. We need men s and women s hooded sweatshirts (especially large and XL), sweaters, t-shirts, baseball caps, rain ponchos, small folding umbrellas, small bottles of water, juice boxes, Gatorade, or any other individual-sized noncarbonated drinks, mayonnaise, mustard, and granola bars. We have enough socks. We need travel-sized personal care products in bulk to make packages for distribution, as well as medium-sized canvas bags, duffle bags, or tote bags. Join us in the Parish Center on Friday, September 8, at 7:00 PM, to prepare sandwiches and to help organize donations. We need volunteers to help with distribution on Saturday, September 9, at 11:00 AM, on Boston Common. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Training provided and materials supplied for every class. If you are interested in this very important ministry please call the office: Would you like to help in the Religious Education Program but teaching isn t for you? We need monitors for both Saint Agnes School and Arlington Catholic High School. Please call the office if you are available to help. Saint Agnes School News Celebrating 125 Years of Academic Excellence Saint Agnes School Summer Hours: August 28, 29, 30, 9 AM-2 PM Closed: August 31, September 1 and 4. First Communion is a two-year program beginning in Grade One. Prayer Line - If you are in need of prayers, call the healing and restoration prayer line at (located at Mission Church, 1545 Tremont Street, Boston). Healing service is the last Sunday of the month at 2:00 PM. Job Opening: Fidelity House is accepting applications for a Site Coordinator and Group Leader positions in our School Age Child Care Program. Part time Preschool Teachers are also needed. Contact Preschool and Pre-K Openings: Fidelity House s Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten Program have openings for September. The programs have half day and full day options. Children ages 2 year 9 months and up are welcome. Full Day Programs- Fidelity House will offer Full Day Programs for Grade 2-13 year olds through September 1. Trips, including George s Island, Golf Country for mini golf, Southwick Zoo, special events, sports, arts & crafts, and games are all part of the fun. Register now! Summer Programs Summer fun continues at Fidelity House. Kindergarten and 1st grade Camp and Preschool Summer Fun continue through September 1. Program includes trips, sports, arts and crafts, special events and more. Fall Programs: If there is a program you would like to see, or if you have a talent you might like to share, please give Fidelity House a call at We would love to offer more children s programs, an adult exercise class and programs for our senior citizens. AAU Basketball Fidelity House will offer Fall AAU Basketball. Boys teams for grades 3/4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11/12 grade will be offered. Tryouts start after Labor Day. Contact Fidelity House for more information. Men s, Women s and High School Basketball Leagues Men s league plays Tuesday or Thursday nights. Women s League plays on Monday nights. Teams and individuals are welcome. A high school varsity league is offered on Sunday afternoons beginning September 17. Like Peter in today s Gospel, we can find that when we open our eyes to see, our ears to hear and our hearts to experience Jesus presence in our daily lives, God reveals himself to us. This month, through your gifts, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul enabled the poor to experience Jesus presence by assisting families with food, rent and utility bills. Thank You! People living with depression: The Saint Agnes Depression Support Group will meet at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 31,in the Parish Center. All are welcome - please join us! If you have any questions please contact Karen Celano at kcelano@gmail.com or Cardinal Seán has directed that Saint Agnes and Saint Camillus Parishes will begin as a collaborative in June of next year, A collaborative is a structure within which several distinct parishes cooperate, to combine resources such as priests, staff and finances, to put toward our global effort of evangelization. Within the collaborative, our two parishes will begin this collaboration by sharing a pastor. We will share parochial vicars and key staff members. It is likely that the priests will live together in one rectory. The parishes will not combine bank accounts.
