In our 12 th year of operation, families in the Lake Geneva School District are helped with rent, utilities, and prescription medication. While there is no typical family that applies for assistance, many people seek our help due to the loss of a job, a health crisis, or an unexpected financial event. We help to keep individuals and their families in their homes and the lights, gas and water turned on. For many, we are their last hope. Business meetings are the second Tuesday of the month at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 715 Wisconsin St. at 8 pm. Anyone interested in learning about the organization is invited to attend. Individuals and families in the Lake Geneva School District seeking assistance with rent, utilities, or prescription medication are welcome to apply for help on the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the same location. Your financial assistance is greatly appreciated! Volunteers are always welcome as well. 3 WHY ARE YOU CATHOLIC? - CHANGE OF DATES FOR CLASSES Is that a question you are asked by others and maybe even that you ask yourself? Do you have the answers? If not, and even if you think you do, join us in our newest book study on the book Why I Am Catholic (and You Should Be Too) by Brandon Vogt. Brandon is a convert; he converted when he was in college after exploring several Christian faiths. He quotes G.K. Chesterton (also a convert) The difficulty of explaining why I am a Catholic is that there are ten thousand reasons, all amounting to one reason: that Catholicism is true. This study on the the book Why I Am Catholic (And You Should Be Too) by Brandon Vogt will be offered on Monday evenings and Thursday mornings. Monday evening classes will begin Monday, Sept. 10 through MONDAY, OCT. 29 meeting at 7-8:30 p.m. The Thursday morning classes will begin Thursday, Sept. 13 through THURSDAY, NOV. 1 meeting from 10-11:30 a.m. Classes will be held at St. Francis de Sales Parish in the Library, downstairs. All are welcome especially our brothers and sisters from St. Ben s. The cost of the book is $14 on Amazon, if you have a Prime account, and Kindle is $4.49. 4 SECOND COLLECTION Dr. Fr. Beda Kiure and Mrs. Molly Druffner of Partners 4 Hope Tanzania will be speaking at all masses the weekend of Aug Their work in Tanzania is based in the Same (som-may) Diocese in the Kilimanjaro region where they run health centers, develop schools, work to provide clean water resources, and create sponsorship programs for women entrepreneurs to receive micro-loans. Molly, along with her physician husband, Mark, and their seven children have been working with Fr. Dr. Beda in the South Pare Mountains since They will be telling you of their work and the needs of the people in Bwambo and Hedaru Villages. There will be second collection at each mass. You may donate in cash, check, or credit card. There will also be items for sale and brochures of their work in Tanzania. We thank God ahead of time for your generous support and prayers for this challenging, but fruitful ministry to the poor in T a n z a n i a. As mandated by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, everyone who volunteers to work with our children at St. Francis de Sales Parish and School needs to complete the Arch requirements. For example - Catechists, Mission Trip Chaperones, Visual Arts parents, Room parents and parents that help at class parties or with class projects, chaperones for fields trips and more!
