If so, the Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society is looking for you! We are currently accepting applications for anyone interested in becoming the Program Coordinator for NYCHAPS. January Program: State of the Society Sunday, January 8 th (2:00pm) Maple Shade Barn Members of the Board of Directors will discuss the success, events and workings of NYCHAPS during They will also discuss all of the exciting developments that are sure to make 2016 a banner year! February Program: Cultural History of Pennsylvania Dutch Heritage Thursday, February 2 nd (7:00pm) Maple Shade Barn (Weather Permitting) Subject matter expert, Chris Stoffel Witmer will take us on a journey through PA Deitsch traditions. NYCHAPS Events Valentine s Dance featuring Will Fisher Orchestra Saturday, February 11 th (Dillsburg American Legion) 7:00 10:00pm (Doors open at 5:30pm) Tickets - $25 per couple, $15 per person Valentine's Day is almost here! Join the Will Fisher Orchestra, Central Pennsylvania s premier 1940s-style big band as they swing you and your sweetheart into a glamorous night of dance and romance on Saturday, February 11th, from 7 to 10 pm at the Dillsburg American Legion. Tickets can be purchased at The Book House and Manetenance Barber Styling in Dillsburg, or by calling Light snacks are provided; a cash bar and a special, limited menu will be available. A portion of the proceeds benefits NYCHAPS. Doors open at 5:30 pm.

2 First Friday Dill s Tavern and Plantation Friday, January 6 th (7:oo 10:0opm) featuring Redemption Road Friday, February 3 rd (7:oo 10:0opm) featuring Seasons Spend a candle-lit evening at Dill s Tavern & Plantation enjoying our historical ambiance with live music and refreshments included with entry. January brings a new act to the Tavern, Redemption Road. Redemption Road is an acoustic duo featuring Poppa Rick s edgy rock and blues guitar combined with the polished vocals of Jeremiah Herbert. Their songs deliver a genuine Americana music experience, with acoustic renditions that are stripped down and a style best described as classic rock with soul, combined with heartfelt country and catchy folk that is always 100% authentic. February s performance brings Seasons to the Tavern as they pay homage to the rich tradition of Celtic and American folk music these siblings grew up around. The result is a constantly growing collection of original songs and tunes that are at the same time both fresh and familiar. All guests must be 21 or older. BYOB. Admission is $10 at the door. Maple Shade Quilters Every Thursday (6:30 pm 8:30 pm.) Fiber Arts Events Always a quilt on the frame needing stitching or bring your own projects, we love seeing them! Even if you are not yet a quilter, we can show you how. A great, fun and friendly way to get involved in local fiber community. For more information, contact Winni at Upcoming Classes & Events Maple Tree Tapping Starting in Early February Please call to volunteer or with further questions Throughout February and March, NYCHAPS will be tapping Maple trees in the Dillsburg area. If you have Maple trees at least 27 in diameter or just like maple syrup, consider participating in this event! The final phase of the tree tapping is a Maple Syrup boil at Dill s Tavern & Plantation on Saturday, March 12 th. Pancake and Sausage Breakfast Saturday, March 18 th Maple Shade Barn (8:00am 11:00am) This breakfast will showcase the amber bounty harvested by volunteers of the Maple Tree Tapping. Wagon Raffle Update Congratulations to Bill Weaver, winner of the Harvard Wagon Raffle! NYCHAPS raised over $500 with this raffle, thank you to all who participated!

Stop by our booth in the Main Hall off the Maclay Street entrance. This year s Farm Show runs from Saturday, January 7 th Saturday, January 14 th from 9am 9pm (9am 5pm on the 14 th ) Dills Tavern Painting Raffle Get your hands on a one of a kind framed and signed 16 x 20 painting of the Dills Tavern by Greg Wonders. This masterpiece will be on display at all upcoming NYCHAPS events until the drawing on May 13, 2017 at Publick Tyme. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5, need not be present to win.

4 Dill s Tavern and Plantation Expansion Update We are thrilled to announce that Rich and Nancy Eichelberger generously made a dollar for dollar donation match. As you know, the expansion and development of the Dill s Tavern and Plantation would not be possible without your generosity and commitment to our shared goal of realizing this property s historic potential. Proposed amendment to the NYCHAPS By-laws The below amendment will be voted on by the Board of Directors at the February 21 st Board & Membership meeting. Per the by-laws, any member of the organization is welcome to attend this meeting and vote on the amendment below. Amendment to Article V, Board of Directors The following is a proposal modifying NYCHAPS' bylaws, and revising the language of Article V to reflect the substitution of one (1) of the elected Director's positions with one (1) of the Directors of the Dillsburg Farmers Market. This proposal would give The DFM representation on the NYCHAPS Board, in a cooperative environment. The total number of NYCHAPS Directors would remain 11. This proposal is also contingent on the DFM acquiring their LLC and 501 3(c) statuses. 6. A Director representing the Dillsburg Farmer's Market shall take the place of one of the eleven (11) NYCHAPS Board of Directors positions. This representative shall be a member of, and appointed by, the Board of Directors of the DFM and serve a 3-year term, as per Article V, Section 2. This representative shall also be a member of NYCHAPS.

6 Executive Directors Corner Executive Director: Michael Lintal Looking back over 2016, there are many things I am grateful for. We continued offering great events and hands- on educational experiences for school children. All while expanding our events calendar to feature new favorites like Oysterfest and the Honey & the Hog Festival. I am very fortunate to have such a dedicated group of volunteers to call on for any number things. Your commitment to this organization not only fuels my passion, and is infectious to newcomers visiting our properties for the first time. Looking ahead, the 2017 looks even more impressive than the year we just finished. Thanks to Rich and Nancy Eichelberger s generous donation in 2016 and donation match in 2017, we can begin the process of developing the new parcel of land, moving our organization closer to our goal of long term sustainability for our organization. Finally, the partnership with the Dillsburg Farmer s Market has the opportunity to enrich our already robust offering of local Agriculture history, by showcasing those farmers who continue that work today.
