5 Villa Park Chamber of Commerce September 2017 Help Keep the Arts in Villa Park! Support Park Art Center! Park Art Center (PAC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art center and art gallery, was developed from the cumulative vision of several local artists and community members who share a passion for art and the creative process. Their dream to create a nonprofit community center is fulfilled and flourishing as Park Art Center in Villa Park, Illinois. PAC brings people together to collaborate, learn, create and innovate, a place where anyone from the artistically curious to the established artist could enjoy, create, study, exhibit, discuss, or engage with art. Our plans include Park Art Fundraiser! In order to solidify our current location, we are required to sign an annual lease and we want cash reserves in place to cover rent and utilities for the upcoming year. Secure contracts with artists with enough lead time to plan and market their respective exhibits, related programs, and schedule art classes. Cover operating expenses that keep PAC up and running on a day-to-day basis including insurance, professional fees, art supplies, marketing costs, office expenses, and costs required to maintain a website and on-line presence. For the past two years, PAC has done a lot on a shoestring. The center relies on the volunteer efforts of a small, dedicated team to plan, coordinate, and execute our programs. Volunteer time this year is expected to exceed 3,500 hours. We would like to begin paying salaries for a few key positions in order to maintain current responsibilities and the continuity of Park Art Center. A donation at any level would be beneficial. We need your financial support Donations are more important than ever in this time of a reduction in all arts related grant funding. Personal and corporate donations will be used toward ongoing operating expenses that allow PAC to remain a growing and thriving art center accessible to the community with exhibits, speakers and art classes. Consider making a monetary contribution to enable us to continue providing arts to the community. 10 Villa Park VFW Post 2801 to Host Great Lakes Naval Recruits for Thanksgiving at Post 2801!! Villa Park VFW Post 2801 will once again be hosting Naval Recruits from Great Lakes Naval Base for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. This year the recruits will be hungry for a hot meal. Unfortunately many of the VFW's cannot afford to feed them. The Villa Park VFW has agreed to take 100 recruits again this year. In order to feed 100 guests the menu requires 80 turkeys, 100 lbs of mashed potatoes, fresh beans, carrots, Salad, rolls, and plenty of pies and deserts! What can you do? Donate a turkey or baked good. Turkey's or pies may be dropped off at the Post on Wed Nov 22nd or Thurs am on the 23rd. You can also donate a raffle prize for a product or service from your business, or make a monetary donation. Volunteers are also welcome! These recruits have not seen, or spoken to their families in over 7 weeks!!! They have no access to cell phones, or the internet. You can volunteer your time on Thanksgiving Day and offer your cell phone for them to use! Make sure you disable your internet, and clearly mark your phone with your name, address and phone number. It is a truly heartwarming experience to see these young people who are so grateful and happy for a home cooked meal, and supported by Villa Park volunteers. To learn more, contact VFW Post 2801 at
