Due to scheduling conflicts the meeting will be postponed until Tuesday, February 10, at 6:30 PM. Catholic Schools Week: Information regarding Catholic Schools Week events will be sent home on Friday. You should have received an information and permission form for the school field trip to Carnegie Science Center last week. The permission form with the $5.00 must be sent in by this Thursday, January 15 th. Chaperones are NOT to send their money in at this time. The teachers will notify you if you will be selected. Lunch Payment Reminder: No one can be in arrears with the lunch payments past one month. If you are in arrears, you will receive a letter stating that your child will need to brown bag their lunch. This policy was established and everyone was informed in August. Pizza Lunch: On Friday, January 30 th the cafeteria will not be serving a hot lunch. Once again, the 8th grade will be offering the very popular "Pizza Lunch". If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please complete the order form included in this newsletter and send it back along with payment through school by Tuesday, January 27 th. Cookies Needed: We are asking for donations of cookies for the two Open House events. If you could bake (or buy) one or two dozen and send them in a tightly sealed container by Friday, January 23 th or Friday, January 30 th, it would be greatly appreciated. We will be sure to return your container so long as your name is on it. We have mailed out over 140 invitations to prospective families, and we don t want to be short on refreshments. Thank you, in advance, for your contribution. St. Mary s Catholic Schools Week Family Ice Skating Party: On January 30 th there will be a Family Ice Skating Party, sponsored by the St. Mary School Recruitment Committee, at the North Park Ice Rink. Family skating session will take place from 4:30-7:00 PM. Free family social from 7:00-10:00 PM in the upstairs party room. Please see the flyer included in this newsletter for more information.
2 SCRIP Corner: We have just entered the last quarter of the Assessment year. You have until March 31 st to earn assessment credit. Third quarter reports were sent home this week! Check your balance and keep buying scrip to work off your balance!! The more you earn, the less you will owe in April! Recruitment Committee: The Recruitment Committee would like any suggestions in our recruitment efforts. We are looking for any type of input for getting new students through the doors. We are currently working to put together marketing ideas, Open Houses, social media ideas, and any other available ways to get our name out to the public. Please feel free to Dana Byrnes at Suggestions will be brought to our next meeting. Night at the Races They re coming down the stretch : The St. Mary Athletic Association will hold their annual Night at the Races in Marian Hall on Saturday, January 24, Please join us for this most enjoyable evening with friends and exciting entertainment. Tickets are $20.00 and includes food buffet, beer, setups and soda (BYOB). Please consider coming after the 6PM Mass. Doors open at 7:00pm. Buffet dinner at 7:15pm. Races start at 8:00pm. Adults only. Reach out to friends and family, arrange for a table (tables can accommodate 8-10 friends). Mark your Calendars and SAVE THE DATE: Saturday Feb 7th, 2015-ST. MARY'S ROCKS! Our school's biggest fundraiser of the year will be an adult fun-filled evening of food, drinks, raffles, silent auction & much more. The night will feature - LIVE MUSIC from an All-star St. Mary's Band featuring Drew Martier, Jeff Morris, Tony Watson, Al Thomson & other special guests. The event will be held at Parkview Social Hall at 7PM. Please plan to join your friends from St, Mary's and support our school at a great event you don't want to miss! New Family Referral Program: We will be continuing our New Family Referral Program that will enable St. Mary School families to earn a tuition assistance credit for referring new families to St. Mary s. Details on the program are outlined below and forms to apply for this credit can be found in the office. Please get out there and encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to check out St. Mary School for their children next year! Current St. Mary School families are eligible to receive tuition assistance credit s for referring new families to St. Mary School. There are two types of credits: New Family Referral Incentives Tuition Assistance Credit Action Eligibility Requirements $100 Scheduling and accompanying a prospective family on a tour of St. Mary School. Tour must be scheduled in advance with the school office and the family applying for the credit must be present on the tour. An additional $400 If the new family enrolls in St. Mary School. Forms are available in the school office to apply for this program. Family applying for the credit must have been instrumental in the new family s decision to choose St. Mary School. St. Joseph High School Cheerleading Mini Camp: Flyers were sent home this week regarding the St. Joseph High School Cheerleading Mini Camp. The reply deadline listed on the flyer is January 5th, but this has been extended. If you are interested, please reply as soon as possible so that T-shirts may be ordered. Tutoring: Mrs. Dana Poznik (long-term substitute for Mrs. Skelley) is offering after school tutoring in Reading/Vocabulary Skills (K-8), Language Arts/English/Writing Skills (K-8), Study Skills (K-8), and Math (K-4). Mrs. Poznik has 20+ years of teaching experience with a B.S and M.S. degrees from Duquesne University and Social Studies certification for grades 7-9. Please call for further information. 3 PIZZA LUNCH SALE On Friday January 30th the cafeteria will not be serving a hot lunch. Once again, the 8th grade will be offering the opportunity to purchase pizza, fruit, a drink and a cookie for your child. The lunch will be delivered directly to your child in their classroom during their lunch period by the 8th graders. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please complete the order form on the next page and send it back along with payment through school by Tuesday, January 27 th. Thanks to the many families who have pre-purchased a Pizza Lunch for all of the fund-raiser dates this year. If you pre-purchased your child will be delivered their pre-ordered Pizza on Friday, Jan 30th. If you did not pre-purchase for the year.we are still also offering the OPTION of purchasing Pizza Lunch for the entire year on the days the cafeteria is closed with one payment! The 5 remaining dates are listed below. January 30 th, Feb 13 th, Feb 27, Mar 6 th & Mar 27th This is just an option to save parents paperwork and time. Pizza lunch order forms for individual dates will still be offered before every lunch. This Pizza Lunch Sale is a fundraiser for the 8 th grade end-of-the-year trip. Thank you for your support.
