2 We put the Spotlight on a project currently underway at the J.R. White Memorial Park in Germantown Hills. The Village of Germantown Hills received an $80,000 Recreational Trails Program (RTP) Grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources fund the $100,000 trail. The grant is funded through the Federal Highway Administration s (FHWA) Recreational Trails Program. The project will build a bike/walkway trail around the perimeter of J.R. White Park in Germantown Hills. The trail will be 8 feet wide and approximately 1,911 feet in length. The trail will be asphalt and will include some benches along the trail. The walkable length on the inner loop will be.25 miles and the outer loop will be.3 miles. A sidewalk is also being built at the front of the park to connect the new trail to the new sidewalk along Holland Road. The Village Board is excited about the first bike/walkway trail in Germantown Hills and has received enthusiastic support for this project. The Germantown Hills School and Little Oaks Daycare periodically take children to the park for activities, and having a safe place to let the kids walk will be a great asset to our community. The Village knows there s a desire for more recreational opportunities and the new trail is a great start for our community. The trail is scheduled to be completed by September 28th. There may be a special ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for this fall, but at the time of printing the event had not been planned. On The Cover St. Jude Run is one of the largest charity runs in the nation, raising millions of dollars for research and living up to their promise that no family will have to pay for anything for the treatment of their child. The cover shows a group coming through Germantown Hills on their way to Peoria on August 5th. MTCO Communications 220 N. 3 Entertainment & Technology Fall TV Premieres This Is Us is a refreshingly honest and provocative series with a unique ensemble. As their paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways, we find that several of them share the same birthday and so much more than anyone would expect. This smart, modern dramedy will challenge your everyday presumptions about the people you think you know. The show premieres on Tuesday, September 26th at 8 p.m. on NBC. Set your clocks for Monday September 25th and 26th at 7 p.m. for the season premiere broadcasts on NBC. For 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, it isn t easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn t always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted, and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. This series debuts Monday, September 25th at 7:30 p.m. on CBS. FREE HBO & Cinemax Preview We have another FREE long weekend for digimax TV customers to access all HBO and Cinemax channels! Along with regular programming, this channel will show various games when live games will be available simultaneously on the Big Ten Network Channels (17/564HD).
