2 MTCO employee Elaine Breitbarth showing our longest active customer Anna the 1946 Telephone Book Raymond Rauh working the switchboard. Metamora Telephone operators connecting phone calls. MTCO is celebrating our 70th year in business since the Rauh family purchased the Metamora Telephone Company in Even more amazing is our longest standing customer from Metamora named Anna. She is pictured on the front cover along with Glenn Rauh, company President, who was just a little kid in 1945 when his parents, Raymond and Elyme Rauh purchased the telephone company. Anna has been a Metamora Telephone customer since before 1945 when the Sommer family owned the business. We met with Anna last month and talked about some of the past history of Metamora and the telephone company. At 104 years old, Anna is still using our services while living at home and remembers a lot about our progression over the years. Her telephone number in 1945 was 4L. Yes, that was when you called the operator to place the call for you! She informed us that she was born in the house where the telephone company eventually built its office. Today, the MTCO Internet office stands on this property and for a time was the home of MTCO President Glenn Rauh and family. So much has changed at Metamora Telephone Company over the past 70 years, and along with the changes came new service areas that we acquired. Besides Metamora and Germantown Hills, MTCO Communications is located in Marseilles and Washington, Illinois providing telephone, internet and television services. We look forward to serving our next 100 year old customer that will be born this year! For more information about our services, please visit or scan this QR code with your smart phone. 3 Entertainment & Technology Best 46 and 47 Inch TVs There was a time when plasma screens reigned supreme in the 46-inch TV market. Now the LCD TV is moving in on all sizes of the TV market. LED backlight scanning and technical wizardry has made LCD technology viable in large sizes. So the majority of TVs in this size bracket are now from the LED side of the wall, and that s not necessarily a bad thing. LED TVs these days are brighter than plasmas, they re thinner and there s a lot more variety to choose from. With Samsung, Panasonic, Sony and LG now leading the way in this market, you ll soon see more features and technology built into TVs in the near future. Take Selfies With A Drone Lily Robotics has released a self flying video drone to capture your adventures while you focus on your activity.
