2 In the spotlight this month is Bobby Kaminski from Illinois Valley Cellular. Bobby relocated from Cicero to Marseilles in 1995 with his parents and two brothers. He resides in Marseilles with his wife Maggie and their three children. Bobby started part-time at IVCellular in 1995 as a technician. In 2002, he moved up to a Network Technician position, and in 2008 was promoted to the position of Director of Product Development. One story that stands out for Bobby while working at IVCellular was the time during his Network Technician days and they were building a new tower site in Long Point, IL. The night before working at the site, Bobby received a call from IVCellular President Glenn Rauh explaining they would need to cut down some trees to clear the area. The next day driving up to the Long Point site, he saw Glen with a chain saw cutting down 80 foot trees as if he was a lumberjack. He walked up to Glenn who mentioned they only had ten more trees to go. At that point, Bobby knew Glenn was on a mission, and on that day Bobby became a lumberjack! As you just read, Glenn Rauh has been a great motivator for Bobby! He also mentions how fortunate and thankful he is for receiving lifelong inspiration from his parents, Robert and Sharon Kaminski. When asked about moments in the community that have stood out while working at IVCellular, he recalled the 2014 flood. During that time, Bobby was on the Marseilles City Council as the Commissioner of the Streets and Public Improvements. He helped with organizing the city s clean-up effort with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), and the LaSalle County Emergency Management Agency. What he witnessed during this disaster was a remarkable display with everyone in the community coming together to help, and to help without any reserve. He is very proud to be a resident of Marseilles! Another proud moment for Bobby and his family was when his wife Maggie started a home based business in 2014 named Bloomin Vinyl. They provide personalized T-shirts, banners, magnets, and much more. The business began to grow so Maggie moved to a new location in 2016 on Main Street in Marseilles. Much thanks to Bobby for taking these fun pictures that share his fun personality that friends and residents expect and enjoy! On The Cover King Godwin (Chuck Bell, Peoria) and Melinda, Duchess Prairieshire (Melinda Watts-Ellis, Urbana) from the Court of Albion, recently reined Court at Wildlife Prairie Park, near Peoria on a fine day. King Godwin and his court will be at the Marseilles Renaissance Faire behing held on September 9th. See page seven for all the activities set for this event! MTCO Communications 220 N. 3 Entertainment & Technology Fall TV Premieres This Is Us is a refreshingly honest and provocative series with a unique ensemble. As their paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways, we find that several of them share the same birthday and so much more than anyone would expect. From the writer and directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love comes a smart, modern dramedy that will challenge your everyday presumptions about the people you think you know. The show premieres on Tuesday, September 26th at 8:00 p.m. on NBC. The three-time Emmy Award-winning The Voice returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the blockbuster vocal competition show s new season. Grammy Awardwinning artist Gwen Stefani returns as a coach this season, joining megastars Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton and host Carson Daly. Set your clocks for Monday September 25th and 26th at 7:00 p.m. for the season premiere broadcast on NBC. For 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, it isn t easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn t always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. The special series debut is Monday, September 25th at 7:30 p.m. on CBS. ABC and CBS Now On Demand Starting in September, you will now have full, free, and instant access to primetime ABC and CBS programming on digimax On Demand! All programming from 7 p.m p.m. Sunday through Friday will be available on digimax On Demand one hour after the show airs, and will be available for viewing for three weeks. If you forgot to set the DVR or need to catch up on your favorite shows, just press the MOVIE or ON DEMAND button on your remote contol, scroll down to the TV Shows or TV Shows HD folders, then open the ABC or CBS folder, sit back and enjoy! On Demand programming for ABC will be available starting September 18th when premiere week starts. Shows such as Dancing with the Stars, Grey s Anatomy, Designated Survivor, and new shows such as Marvel s Inhumans will be available. On Demand programming for CBS starts on September 25th. Premieres include The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, and an exciting slate of new shows such as Young Sheldon, S.W.A.T., and SEAL Team. Channel Updates The Big Ten Network now has an HD Overflow channel on channel 420. Along with regular programming, this channel will show various games when live games will be available simultaneously on the Big Ten Network Channels (17/564HD). Sprout will be re-launched as Universal Kids on September 9th, extending its audience to 2-11 year olds. Content kicks off with All Hail King Julien, DreamWorks Dragons: Riders of Berk, and Top Chef Junior. Keep up with Entertainment and Technology news. 6 In Our Community MRB Block Party Come out for a fun community event on Saturday, September 23rd as the Marseilles Recreation Board hosts a public Block Party! The event will be held at the baseball diamonds at Guthrie Park at 655 Commercial St. from 4 p.m p.m. There will be free entertainment for all ages. Free activities include bounce houses, bags, a bonfire, and great music. There will also be a beer tent (purchase only), 50/50 raffle, silent auction items, and more. Free food and no alcoholic drinks will take place from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. with a pig roast, pastas, and more. Pulled Pork Dinner The Marseilles First Congregational Church will sponsor a Pulled Pork Drive-Thru Dinner on Friday, September 22nd from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at 255 E. Bluff St. Carry outs are available and will be delivered to Marseilles only. Dinner includes pulled pork, bun patio beans, coleslaw, apple sauce, dessert, and flatware. Each food item will be freshly packed in their individual containers. Tickets are $8.00 and can be purchased at the door. Any questions, please call or Vegas Nite The will sponsor another public Vegas Nite on Saturday, September 16th from 5 p.m p.m. Games of chance, food, and draft beer is included in the donation of $10.00 ($12.00 at the door). Menu is roast beef, pork, salads, and desserts. There will be no carryouts, and must be 21 or older. Proceeds to the Lions Club Christmas Basket Fund.
