Weber SR - Worshipful Master C: mwsr@bellsouth.net W M Steve Rushefsky - Secretary C: Steve@ainvestmentgroup.com Brother Barry Deutsch - Treasurer C: barryid@gmail.com First and foremost, I want to render a heartfelt thank you for your assistance in making MW Karroum s GMOV the true success that it was. No District Deputy could succeed without the support of the brothers and sisters of the district. Obviously, you have heard the horror stories of the days just prior to the event. No venue...no cakes...and of course no AC!! But, with the help and ingenuity of the "crew", we were able to get through it unscathed. The individual thank you would be too many, so thank you all. MW Karroum specifically gave me instructions to congratulate the brothers on the fastest food service on record. An amazing 13 minutes to feed 250+ attendees! Our next events are well in the future, but not too soon to plan. Mark on your calendars for November 17th for the outdoor degree, and December 15th for the Christmas party at the Masonic Home. My brothers, please take advantage of the Masonic Leadership Training programs being conducted by W. Brett Gordon. He has posted the schedule for these training sessions. That, along with the Master Mason 1,2,3 testing available on the Grand Lodge web site, and Lodge Officer Training will be a prerequisite for leadership positions in your individual Lodges. Don't wait until you have a time crunch to meet the requirements to be elected. The schedule for degree presentations being conducted by the various Lodges has been published. Try to attend and support the brothers that are being initiated, passed and raised. Its a special moment for each of them. Here we are almost into August; where does the time go? I would like to congratulate our RW District Deputy Grand Master on doing a superb job in putting on the Grand Masters Official visit July 7th at the American Legion. I would also like to thank all the brothers from our district who lent their support in making this such a successful event-it could not have been done without all of your help. Our DDGM is well into his official visits and I think they are going well. On behalf of our DDGM, I would like to thank everyone for their participation and look forward to their continued support for the remainder of the visits. Also, remember the outdoor degree being held Saturday November 17th at the Sawgrass Recreation Center. Let s show these soon to be newly raised Master Masons that we care and support them in their journey for further light in Masonry. I look forward to seeing everyone at this month s Masters and Wardens meeting at West Broward Lodge hosted by their wonderful WM Hector Mirabile. 4 DISTRICT INSTRUCTOR 3 R Michael W. Tishman P.M. Cell: mtishman@8thdomaintechnology.com Open Books (5:00 PM-8:00 PM) August 1st & 20th 2018 at Doric Lodge No. 140 School of instruction (7:00PM-8:00PM) August 1st & 20th 2018 at Doric Lodge No. 140 Brethren, Two quick reminders regarding ritual degree work and Sharing the Love. First Sitting in a chair for a degree ceremony is not reserved for Lodge officers. Degree work can be performed by any Brother in the Lodge who holds the ranking of the degree being performed. Meaning a FC can sit SW (or any other chair) for a FC or EA degree, and an EA can sit in any chair for an EA degree, if he is proficient in the work. And Second if your Lodge has someone who typically sits in a certain chair for all the degrees, it may be time to consider passing the baton. When this situation occurs, it does not allow a new or existing Brother the opportunity to expand his knowledge and get more involved with the rituals. If you have mastered a chair, there is nothing more rewarding than to teach your skills to another and watch them grow. Please consider sharing the love when it comes to degree ritual work. You ll get more Brothers actively involved and give more Brothers a reason for coming back to the Lodge and expanding their knowledge in the Craft. Fraternally, R:. H:. Michael W. Tishman P.M.
