3 Greetings from Hollywood Assembly # 12 At this month's meeting, we honored our founder Rev. Mark Sexson who was an active and honored Mason. Our Worthy Advisor, Ansley Rae composed a beautiful ceremony for this honoring that she and her Rainbow sisters did during the meeting. After the meeting, the assembly had birthday cake as founder's day is on Rev. Sexson's birthday. We were very pleased and happy to have a visiting Rainbow Girl from Missouri. Kelly Weber is a P.W.A. of St. Charles Assembly #13 and is currently Grand Representative to California and Nevada from Missouri spent the evening with us and it was a pleasure to have her with us. Our next installation of officers will be held on Sat. August 17 at 11 a.m. at Eureka-North Shore Lodge and we invite all to attend. Now that Grand Assembly is over, the girls will start with fund raising efforts in order to attend next year. The girls will be working on crafts to sell at the craft show in W.P.B. in Oct. sponsered by the Scottish Rite. The new year for Masonic installations and dinners will be upon us very soon and we ask our Masons to think of using our assembly to help with your installation dinners. September 21 st we will have the car rally visiting all of the lodgers and ending up at the Broward county Shrine Club for Lunch. We need some people to help with prizes and to coordinate lunch with the Shrine. September 28 th we have the Grand Masters Official visit to the 33 rd Masonic District. October 12 th we first have our Dinner Dance at the Antique Car Museum. This will be our big fund raiser of the year. We will need some prizes for the auction items and help selling tickets. Tickets will be $65.00 each 2 weeks before the event or up to 2 days before the event. We currently have a $6,000 budget deficit this will be a great way for us to make up that deficit. Lastly, don t forget the Ad Book. Your placement will be on a first come first serve basis. So for that prime spots sign up now. My Brothers, It is very gratifying to see so many new candidates petitioning our lodges looking to join our Fraternity. I myself think that the Masonic resurgence can be attributed to both the Hollywood portrayal of our fraternity but more the various national tragedies starting with 9/11. Good men are looking to belong to something of value with high ideals and a strong reputation. Let s go out of our way to welcome these men into our lodges and make them a part of our fraternity right from the first day. Invite them to all your dinners, call them to be part of work parties or social events and make certain that they get on our lists. Remember, for many of these men it may be the first time they have reached out and asked to join an organization, especially one of our reputation, and it can be intimidating. One of our Grand Masters objectives is to lower suspensions for NPD (non payment of dues). Along those lines I would like to ask all the lodges to start a phone call program to encourage brothers, we have not seen for some time, to come on out to a meeting. It s very easy to have meeting nights drop off our radar and over time to become a habit. Even if the Brother is too busy now to return to lodge he will still appreciate the call. My upcoming official visits are at Eureka North Shore on Thursday August 1 st, North Star Lodge (at J Dewey Hawkins) on Tuesday August 6 th and North Broward Lodge (at Roe Fulkerson) on August 22 nd. The concept of establishing a District Degree Team has been well received throughout the district and a number of you have expressed a desire to be part of the team.
