Greetings from Mary! This month we have a the wonderful opportunity to give back to our community. We will be collecting non perishable food for the Food Pantry at the Monthly Luncheon or you can bring something in if you are attending a class or program. It s a great way to help out our neighbors and be thankful of all the wonderful things we have. Thank you! Mary Swanson, Director TWILIGHT DINING The Blossom Café 8349 W. Make sure all paper clips, staples and rubber bands are removed. No Spiral Notebooks!
2 Day Trip Information Rate 1- Easy means usually one stop, some walking and minimal stairs. Rate 2- Somewhat Difficult means that there are at least two stops and sometimes stairs. Rate 3- Difficult means that there are at least two stops and sometimes stairs and moderate to heavy walking. Cancellation Policy When canceling please keep in mind that we need to be able to resell your ticket first. If we are able to resell, a $3.00 cancellation fee will be charged per ticket. If the ticket is not resold, there will be no refund. Guest Policy If the trip indicates that guests are allowed the policy is one per paid member. Special Requests Please limit your request to sit with one person only and indicate this on your registration form. Also, if you need any special assistance, such as wheelchair access, special menu etc...indicate this on the registration form. Please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for each day trip! ALL TRIPS DEPART FROM THE SABEEL CENTER, 8800 Ballard Rd., Des Plaines CHICAGO PARKS, ART & CULTURE TRIP Wednesday, September 2-9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Trip Rate 3 $70.00 members/ $75.00 guests We start our tour at Chicago s newest attraction the Maggie Daley Park, then onto one of Chicago s hidden gems, the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, Lincoln Park. We will then have lunch at Mon Ami Gabi in Lincoln Park where you can choose between Grilled Salmon, Croque Monsieur or Chicken Paillard. All served with a family style Fruit Platter, Frites (Fried Potatoes) and Chocolate Mousse for Dessert. Then we drive the boulevard system through Logan Square over to Historic Humboldt Park. Our last stop will be in Humboldt Park Stable, Historic Landmark, home to the National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture. CHICAGO S FINEST TRIP Chicago History Museum, Harry Caray s and Lincoln Park Zoo Tuesday, September 8-9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Trip Rate 3 $61.00 members/ $66.00 guests We start at the Chicago History Museum for their special exhibit The Secret Lives of Objects. Included are 42 items from its collection including the eyeglasses of Nathan Leopold, found near the body of victim Bobby Franks, which helped unravel the 1924 killing, and a rare photo of both President Abraham Lincoln & his assassin John Wilkes Booth. After we spend time exploring we will travel to the Original Harry Caray s for lunch. Choose ahead of time between Rigatoni Vodka, Roasted Turkey Club Sandwich or a Holy Cow! Burger. Each served with Sides, Soup and Fudge Brownies and Cookies for Dessert! Then enjoy some time at Lincoln Park Zoo, weather permitting! HISTORIC MILITARY SPACES North Shore Area Wednesday, September 16-8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Trip Rate 3 $55.00 members/ $60.00 guest Let s march thru history as we visit some of the most interesting Military places. Starting with the Russell Military Museum where history comes alive - with over 100 vehicles on display. Then lunch will be served at Port of Call enjoying the panoramic view of Lake Michigan. Lunch features Crispy Fried Chicken, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Potato Chips and Fresh Baked Cookies. After lunch, we visit the Great Lakes Navy Museum and see how the base was a major recruit training center during WWI. During WWII Great Lakes was one of the Navy s most important centers for both Basic and Advance training. Our final stop will be touring the Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve.
