Help hold a 5-day summer school for new postgraduate students of College of Optoelectronics engineering and recruit new SPIE chapter members. Annually summer school of College of Optoelectronics engineering for new graduate students has been hold from 08/20 to 08/24 in This year, our chapter members help hold this summer school. Four chapter members shared their experience and some effective ways for the freshmen to get on to with science research. At the same time, we recruit some new SPIE chapter members from these freshmen. Photos:

5 2. Attending 2 nd Sino-German Workshop on Biomedical Photonics. 2nd Sino-German Workshop on Biomedical Photonics has been hold in Shenzhen from 10/14 to 10/18. Five members of our chapter have participated. This workshop is organized by Prof. Junle Qu (from College of optoelectronics engineering, Shenzhen University) and Prof. Angelika Rueck from University of Ulm, German. About 30 experts have been there and given presentations. Photos:

6 3. Attending the SPIE Annual Student Chapter Leadership Workshop and SPIE Optics + Photonics 2016 in San Diego. Zeiwei Cai, the chapter vice-president, as a representative, attended SPIE Optics + Photonics Conference 2016 in San Diego. He successively attended the Student Chapter Leadership Workshop, made a poster presentation of his work. He also gave a report to our chapter to share his experience in San Diego. The most valuable thing he learned from this travel, as he said, is the open mind and the passion of the foreign students and people of U.S.. Photos:

7 4. Inviting scientific research personnel and company leader to perform lectures In name of Institute of Optoelectronic Engineering and SPIE, we occasionally invite some researchers to perform lectures. We also invite a senior leader to give a lecture for job hunting and career planning.

8 5. Team building In 2016, we insist on monthly seminars and weekly sports activities. We regularly held the seminar with most of our members to summarize the past activities and set plans for future work. And we also held weekly sports activities, such as basketball, badminton and mountain-climbing. Photos:

Help hold an international symposium Assisting to hold the International Symposium on Multimodal Imaging, Display, and Data Security from 09/26 to 09/29 in This is a great even our supervisor had spent almost a year to prepare. This symposium was organized by our chapter's supervisor, Prof. Xiang Peng, and Prof. Ayman Al Falou from Institut Supérieur de l'electronique et du Numérique. About 70 experts from 15 countries had attended this symposium to celebrate the International Year of Light and the 20th anniversary of the pioneer work in optical information security proposed by Prof. Javidi, who has also accepted our invitation. 10 Details of planned activities for the future 1. Continue electing new committees for our chapter. We hope the fresh blood will bring more ideas and benefits to our chapter. 2. Continue holding our seminars and job-hunting experience sharing workshops which have already been proved to be successful and useful. 3. Continue inviting professors and company leaders to give some lecture to our members. 4. Continue supporting outdoor and indoor activities for our members. It s necessary to have funs after scientific research.
