1 Scholarship Information HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION CAREER & TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP 510 scholarships will be awarded (10 in each state) with a maximum award of $2500. Applicants must plan to attend a community college in the fall 2016, exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program at an accredited non profit community college in the United States, demonstrate critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell Grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA), be involved in community service activities, display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and have United States citizenship. Apply online at application.horatioalger.org by the June 1 deadline. ENGINEERS CLUB OF SIOUXLAND offers two $1,500 scholarships to seniors planning to attend college and majoring in engineering. Finalists must participate in an interview concerning academic achievement, financial need, indication of success and probable contribution to society through the profession of engineering. ALPHA DELTA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP $350 is offered to a female high school senior planning to attend college in the fall and pursuing a degree in education. Student must rank in the top 25%, promote good citizenship, demonstrate potential for leadership, be a well rounded, positive asset to her school, community and country, and be involved in school activities. Please see your counselor if you are interested in applying. Deadline to apply is April 22. BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY ST. CLARE SCHOLARSHIP will cover the entirety of tuition at Briar Cliff if a student has extreme financial need (an EFC of 0 on FAFSA). If the student chooses to live on campus, the student will still be required to pay for room & board as well as a meal plan, but tuition will be covered. Students who are looking to live OFF campus, would end up paying approximately $ per year for their education. This amount is comprised of fees and an estimated cost of books. In order for a student to receive this scholarship they must be; a resident of Iowa, fully accepted into Briar Cliff, and have an EFC of 0. Contact Financial Aid at Briar Cliff for more information. SIOUXLAND UNIDAD LATINA SCHOLARSHIP $1,000 Applicants must be of Latino/Hispanic heritage pursuing post secondary education in the tri state area AND 1) be a graduating tri state high school senior during the academic year, or 2) be a currently enrolled college student, or 3) be an adult wishing to pursue a college education. Awardees must attend the Scholarship Banquet on Friday, May 6 at 6:30pm at the Briar Cliff University Campus. Deadline to apply is March 31. UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN IOWA BALANCED MAN SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship is offered by the Iowa Theta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon to male students who excel in the areas of scholarship, leadership, athletics and community service. CHILDREN'S CANCER CONNECTION'S EMPOWERING SCHOLARSHIPS Applicants must be directly affected by childhood cancer (including individuals who currently have or have had cancer before age 18 or a sibling of that individual). Applicant must be within Children s Cancer Connection s service area (living, treated or diagnosed in the state of Iowa). Applicant must attend or plant to attend an accredited two or four year

Deadline to apply is April 15, THE SIOUX CITY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION offers the KEN ZEISING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. This scholarship is available to students with a parent employed by the Sioux City Community School District who is a member of the SCEA. A scholarship of $850 will be awarded to a student from each of the three public high schools. An applicant must be a graduating senior planning to attend either a vocational school or a college. One of the high schools will have both a vocational and a college scholarship. The other two high schools will each have one college scholarship only. Deadline to apply is April 15. SIOUXLAND AUTISM SUPPORT GROUP COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP $1,000 Eligibility requirements include 1) Diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, 2) Must reside in the greater Sioux City, IA area, 3) Admission to a postsecondary certificate, associate degree, bachelor degree, master degree program at an accredited college or university, and 4) Grade point average of 2.5 or above. Submit application and supporting documents via to siouxlandautism@live.com by the April 1 deadline PROFESSIONAL WOMEN IN BUILDING SCHOLARSHIP/HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF GREATER SIOUXLAND SCHOLARSHIP $1,000 Applicants must be pursuing study in a housing related program, such as construction management, building, construction technology, civil engineering, architecture, design, or any of the trade specialties at the college or university they attend. Other fields may be approved if the applicant can make the connection for the committee relevant. Deadline to apply is April 10, SIOUX CITY RELAYS DWIGHT HAUFF SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: 1) must have participated in a Sioux City Relays Meet, 2) Athleticism as evidenced by Track & Field and other athletic accomplishments, 3) 3.2 minimum cumulative grade point average, 4) leadership as evidenced by the athlete s leadership roles on the track team, in other school activities, and through community involvement. Applications are available at Deadline to apply is March 20, ALL IOWA OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP (AIOS) Applicants must 1) be an Iowa resident, 2) attend an eligible Iowa college or university, 3) have a minimum 2.5 GPA 4) complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) AND Iowa Financial Aid Application by March 1 for priority consideration, and 5) have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $8118 or lower from the FAFSA. Priority will be given to students who participated in certain federal TRIO programs, applicants who graduated from alternative high schools or alternative high school programs, or applicants who participated in a Federal GEAR UP Grant

A.G. & ROSALEE IRELAND SCHOLARSHIP is offered to students who want to pursue post high school education (includes bible colleges, accredited colleges or universities and accredited technical institutions). One East High student will be selected as the recipient of the $1,000 scholarship and another will be chosen as an alternate to be included for consideration with other applicants from Woodbury County and South Sioux City. Applications are due to the counseling office by April 8, EAST HIGH CLASS OF 62 SCHOLARSHIP A $1000 scholarship is offered to an East High senior who 1) has been a student at East continuously for at least two full years, 2) has a need for financial support to continue his/her education, 3) has exemplary integrity and character and is respected by other students and faculty, 4) has been involved in service to the school and/or community, 5) is ranked in the top half of the class, and 6) demonstrated a strong potential for leadership, OR has exhibited an interest in serving his/her community in the future, OR overcome a difficult challenge. Deadline to apply is March 1, JAYNA TROTZIG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to an East High senior who has demonstrated outstanding potential for both academic and personal achievement. Applicant must 1) pursue a post secondary education at the university or technical school of choice beginning in the fall, 2) demonstrate an interest in business or entrepreneurship, 3) possess a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, and 4) demonstrate a potential for success. Applications are available in the Counseling Center. Deadline to apply is April 15, LEARNING DISABILITIES ASSOCIATION OF IOWA will award three scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: 1) Applicant is a current member of LDA, 2) Applicant s parent is a current member of LDA, or 3) Applicant is recommended in writing by a current member of LDA. Students served solely under Section 504 or with primary disabilities other than LD (e.g., Autism) will not be eligible for this scholarship. Deadline to apply is March 31, SIOUX CITY RETIRED EDUCATORS SCHOLARSHIP Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to two high school seniors enrolling in a post secondary institution (2 or 4 year college). Applicants must attend Sioux City East, North or West, Bishop Heelan, Hinton, Lawton Bronson, Sergeant Bluff, Westwood, Woodbury Central, South Sioux City, or Dakota Valley. A minimum 2.75 GPA is required. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence, participation in athletics and service to their school and community. Applicants should go to Download, complete and submit the applications to the principal by May 13, MATTHEW SHEPARD SCHOLARSHIP Applicants must 1) have a minimum 3.0 GPA, 2) have an ACT score of 22 or better, 3) be openly lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, 4) demonstrate LGBTQ activism and community service, and 5) show high moral and ethical standards and conduct. 4 ICAN OUTSTANDING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP HONORING STEVE LOVEN Two $250 one time scholarships will be given to students attending a two or four year institution in Iowa. Go to ICAN AWARD FOR SCHOOL COUNSELING EXCELLENCE IN COLLEGE READINESS HONORING STEVE LOVEN Also, two $125 one time awards will be made to the school counselor nominated in an essay describing how a school counselor promoted a culture of college and career readiness at their school. Deadline to apply is March 21, TYLER S BAY SCHOLARSHIP BPOE ELKS LODGE #112 This scholarship is available to any Siouxland senior who has attained a degree or GED and is accepted to attend a college or university, including community college. Selection criteria includes overall quality of application, desire to continue your education, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and special circumstances. Special consideration will be given to an applicant who has displayed courage and outstanding citizenship in overcoming any of the challenges life can place upon today s student. The deadline to apply is March 11, 2016 SIOUX CITY NOON LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIPS Up to three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to Sioux City seniors planning to attend Briar Cliff, Morningside, or Western Iowa Tech (Arts & Sciences Division) in the fall. Selection will be based on academic achievement, service to the high school attended, and service to our community. Applications are available in the Counseling Center. Deadline to apply is April 8, CHARLIE BURKHART SCHOLARSHIP $1000 per year of full time attendance (up to $4,000) Winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity in golf and the potential for future contributions to the game, then on their academic ability and financial need. Deadline to apply is June 15, IOWA FINANCIAL KNOW HOW CHALLENGE:SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP Visit Scholarship to register and read complete rules now until March 4, After registering, follow the ed instructions to complete two online tutorials and a related assessment. The 30 top scorers on the assessment will each receive a $2,000 scholarship from Iowa Student Loan. Each recipient s high school will also receive $500. WOODBURY COUNTY CATTLEMEN S ASSOCIATION offers a scholarship of $500 for two seniors in Woodbury County. Applicants must be planning a career in or related to agriculture. Parents, guardians or students themselves must be a member of the Woodbury County Cattlemen s Association. Deadline to apply is May 1, EY CHAPTER PEO CORNELIA M GRIFFIN MEMORIAL BOOK SCHOLARSHIP in the amount of $500 is offered to women attending Briar Cliff, Morningside, Western Iowa Tech, or St. Luke s School of Nursing. Deadline to apply is April 1, SIOUXLAND SPORTSMANSHIP SCHOLARSHIP, sponsored by the Siouxland Officials Association, offers up to four $500 scholarships. Two $500 for female participants and two male participants will receive the awards. Criteria: 1) Participate in at least one sport for at least three years of their high school career including their senior year; 2) Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average; 3) Must be of outstanding character, be a total team player, demonstrate the highest level of sportsmanship during their career, and serve as a role model for all students at their high school. 5 AXA ACHIEVEMENT COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP To qualify, you must demonstrate ambition and drive; determination to set and reach goals; respect for self, family and community; ability to succeed in college. Deadline to apply is February 1, IOWA GOLF ASSOCIATION/HERMAN SANI SCHOLARSHIP Any graduating high school senior and resident of the State of Iowa with experience or background in golf is eligible to apply. Each recipient receives $8000 ($2,000 per year). Applicants are selected by a committee solely on the basis of the written application. (It is suggested you wait until you have COMPLETED your senior year to apply. A FINAL transcript is required.) Deadline to apply is March 18, IOWA GOLF ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION/ANN GRIFFEL SCHOLARSHIP awards $2,000 to Iowa high school senior girls who have a passion for golf and intend to further their education at an Iowa institution of higher learning, whether a college, university or trade school. Deadline to apply is April 15. NORTH STAR COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION/WARREN A. MORROW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is available through the Iowa Credit Union Foundation and consists of one $1500, one $1,000, one $750, and one $500 scholarship. Seniors are encouraged to apply for the scholarship online at Deadline to apply is February 6, NEBRASKA LEGENDS SCHOLARSHIP (Siouxland Huskers Legends Scholarship) Recipients are selected based on student involvement during high school and a demonstrated commitment to become involved and engaged on campus. Iowa 4-H members are eligible to apply for 4-H scholarships if they meet individual scholarship requirements, as determined by the scholarship donors. Applicants preparing for a career in the newspaper industry are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and plan to attend a two or four-year college or technical school as they pursue a degree in the field(s) of Education or Dentistry. CASTLE ON THE HILL ASSOCIATION BOARD SCHOLARSHIP Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors attending Sioux City high schools. Deadline is April 1, IOWA AUTOMOBILE DEALERS FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION will award $2,000 scholarships to students committed to the pursuit of automotive-related studies. Career paths include: accountant, automotive technician, diesel technician, business office manager, human resources professional, marketing manager, salesperson, and finance and insurance professional. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to attend an Iowa college or university. Scholarships may be awarded, in part, on financial need. Go to for more information. Deadline to apply is March 15, FIRST FRIDAY BREAKFAST CLUB awards scholarships to seniors to recognize the student s efforts to reduce homophobia and increase awareness and tolerance of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) issues in their schools and communities. Awards are in the amount of $3,000 per student. Deadline to apply is January 29, POINT FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP empowers the next generation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) leaders to reach their full leadership and academic potential. 7 SFM FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Provides scholarships to students whose parents were killed or seriously injured in workplace accidents while working in Minnesota, Iowa, or Wisconsin employers. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $10,000 per year for up to five years. Academic achievement, aptitude, financial need, extracurricular activities, and community service of the applicant is considered. Applicants must be pursuing a primary college or university degree (bachelor s or associate s) or vocational education and training (certificate or license) from any accredited school. Deadline is February 1, BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU STUDENTS OF INTEGRITY AWARD - Criteria for this award includes 1) essay relating to an ethical situation, 2) demonstrated integrity, 3) community service and leadership roles, and 4) academic history and letters of recommendation. KEEP IOWA BEAUTIFUL 2015 BYERS ENVIRONMENTAL SCHOLARSHIP Applicant must 1) be a current Iowa resident and an Iowa high school senior, 2) be enrolling in an IOWA college or university majoring in community, sociology or environmental science-related fields), 3) possess a strong background in community service and/or community enhancement. Applications are available at Deadline to apply is January 8, IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY CHRISTINA HIXSON OPPORTUNITY AWARD Students must 1) demonstrate financial need as determined by FAFSA, 2) have faced challenges of personal and/or financial hardship/ 3) be residents of Iowa, 4) be admissible to Iowa State University, 5) possess the potential to succeed. Applications are available at Deadline to apply is February 1, IOWA FINANCIAL KNOW-HOW CHALLENGE: SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP Iowa Student Loan will award 30 $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors, regardless of financial need, grade point average, class rank or intended college. Applicants must 1) Register with information and ; 2) use the links provided in your confirmation to complete two Iowa Student Loan online tools Student Loan Game Plan and the ROCI Reality Check (Understand the consequences of borrowing money for college and See how your choice of major and career can impact your ability to repay college debt); and 3) Take a related financial literacy assessment test. THE USD SCHOOL OF EDUCATION BUSH SCHOLARSHIP - $1,000 each year for four years to admitted incoming teacher education majors. 8 SIOUXLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION BEEF PRODUCTS, INC SCHOLARSHIP - Applicants must be graduating seniors from a 30 mile radius of Sioux City, IA to include Nebraska and South Dakota; have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and be ranked in the top 75% of your graduating class; must have participated in part time or full time work during his/her high school experience.
