Every college student will fill this out each year they are in college. Applications for free student aid (FAFSA) opened Sunday, October 1. That's $3.4 billion dollars in funding all available to students like you! *LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION The green "Letter of Recommendation Form" is located on the CKHS Counseling website under "Handouts" if you would like to be able to type in your portion. A hardcopy is available in the Counseling Office by Mrs. Mohs. November 27, 2017 WUE Western Undergraduate Exchange WUE is the Western Undergraduate Exchange program with the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). Through WUE, students in western states can attend participating institutions in other states for reduced tuition. Instead of paying full out of state tuition, a WUE participant pays the regular in state tuition plus 50 percent of that amount. See the wesite for more information. 12th Courage to Grow Scholarship $500 The "Courage to Grow Scholarship" was created to help students realize their college dreams. Today's economy is hard enough on a family, it is our desire to ease some of the financial burden that a college education can put on individuals and their families. THIS IS A MONTHLY ESSAY CONTEST. YOU MAY ENTER EACH AND EVERY MONTH IF YOU CHOOSE. Winners will be selected 2 weeks after each month end th 12th Dental Academy 2018 Are you interested in Dentistry, Medicine, or the healthcare field? Dental Academy is a multi session program at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. This program is for high school students who are from minority or underrepresented communities and who are interested in dentistry and other healthcare related careers. Whether you are interested in dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, or public health, the Dental Academy program provides insight into these fields, while emphasizing dentistry and dental related careers. See the website for more information th Bremerton Elks National Elks Foundation Most Valuable Student The local Elks Lodge #1181 provides awards to six local candidates who then advance to district, who then advance to state. State winners receive an award and advance to the national competition. Nationally 500 four year awards varying from $4,000 $60,000 will be awarded. Applications are available on line only. Varies 11/27/2017 enf.elks.org/mvs 12th AED Superstore College Scholarship $1,000 11/30/2017 AED Superstore is a nationwide distributor of automated external defibrillators and related accessories dedicated to increasing awareness and education around CPR and AEDs. AED Superstore is offering a bi annual scholarship of $1,000 to eligible students. Please visit their website for more information. 12th P.E.O. Star Scholarship $ /30/2017 The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional high school senior women to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the United States or Canada in the next academic year. This is a non renewable $2,500 scholarship for graduating high school senior women which must be used in the academic year following graduation. November 27, 2017 Fleet Reserve Association FRA Up to $5K 12/1/2017 FRA sponsors an annual essay contest to promote the spirit of Americanism and patriotism among our country s youth. FRA's Americanism Essay Contest is open to all students, grades 7 through 12, including those who are home schooled. Students are invited to submit a 350 word essay through an FRA member or local FRA branch before the December 1st deadline. Local winners are forwarded for competition at the regional level and regional winners compete for national prizes. See the website for details th Montana State University Full Tuition 12/1/2017 Montana State University Presidential Scholarship opportunity is the most prestigious scholarship awarded by MSU and includes a full tuition waiver as well as a generous stipend renewable for four years. Finalists who do not receive the Presidential Scholarship will be considered for the Provost Scholarship. Annually, the ESA Foundation awards a number of scholarships to college students not just ESA members with diverse backgrounds and interests. November 27, 2017 Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium Scholarship University of Washi $2,000 $5,000 12/15/2017 Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium annually offers scholarships to incoming freshmen planning to study science, technology, engineering or mathematics at the University of Washington. See website for requirements and to apply on line. 3.3 ACT Student Champion Award ng_freshman/uw_scholars_freshman.html $500 The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life a er high school with a goal in mind and plan in place. Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first genera on college students. See website for requirements and to apply on line. 12th 12/31/ Fortiphi Women in Business Scholarship $500 12/31/2017 Fortiphi Insurance is a Washington based risk management company. They have decided to offer this $500 scholarship to high school senior and college enrolled young women for both personal and professional reasons. Fortiphi Co founder Jay Ebert lost his daughter, Chelsey Rae Ebert, to cancer while she was still in high school. Chelsey was much beloved by her family and friends, who have already founded the Chelsey Rae Ebert Trust, which raises money for scholarships and charities. Applicant must intend on majoring in Business, Management, or Entrepreneurship. Scholarships may be used for any post secondary education including nontraditional degrees, trade or technical programs, community colleges, four year public and private universities, and accredited certificate programs. Complete the application along with a short essay, (What Freedom Means to Me), three letters of recommendation and transcript. Application information is in the counseling department or on the Bremerton Chambers website th National Honor Society (NHS) Scholarship Program 1/30/2018 All NHS senior members in good standing will be eligible to apply. Varies 12th Princeton Prize in Race Relations (Western WA Club) $1,000 1/31/2018 In order to recognize, support, and encourage the young people of our country who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the cause of positive race relations, Princeton University sponsors an annual awards program for high school students the Princeton Prize in Race Relations. Applications postmarked by January 31, 2018, will be eligible for prizes including cash awards up to $1,000 for particularly noteworthy work. 12th Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards $4,000 2/3/2018 Legacy Awards are $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of Elks members. The Foundation will offer a total of 300 awards. For the 2018 contest, any child or grandchild (or step child, step grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2015, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2015, is eligible to apply. November 27, 2017 Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Scholarship 10,000 2/13/2018 BBB Foundation offers the Students of Integrity Scholarship to recognize high school juniors and seniors who personify and communicate ethics in the real world, as demonstrated through community service, personal integrity, and academic accomplishments. High school juniors and seniors from across the Northwest are encouraged to apply by creating a 90 second video that demonstrates how BBB helps people become smart consumers. As the largest independently sponsored merit co op scholarship program in the United States, WACE will award up to 160 merit co op scholarships for a total value of $4,200,000. Their degree could be in one of these majors: teacher, counselor, speech therapist, occupational therapist, or psychologist. The $2,500 Ewing C Kelly Scholarship might be available to help you get started. See website for online application. 12th Smart Choices Scholarship 4/1/2018 The Dairy Farmers of Washington and Les Schwab Tires in conjunction with the WIAA proudly present the Smart Choices Scholarship Program. This annual program recognizes one male and one female graduating senior from among the WIAA member high schools for excellence in athletics/activities, academics, leadership and community service throughout his and her high school career. Smart Choices winners receive a $5,000 scholarship toward the institution of his and her choosing. An additional four (4) male and four (4) female finalists receive $1,000 scholarships. Merrill Wallace Scholarship Through this program, two scholarships in the amount of tuition for three quarters at Olympic College are awarded by the Kitsap County Bar Association.
