That s why Hendrix offers a comprehensive array of achievement-based scholarships that recognize and reward your demonstrated success in a variety of areas academics, leadership, the performing arts, the fine arts, and other areas of distinction. Your record of noteworthy achievements is a signal that, like our current students, you too will thrive on the challenges and opportunities you discover in our learning community.
3 Academic Scholarships $2,000 per year full comprehensive fee (tuition, room, board, and mandatory fees) for up to four years of Students who submit a completed admission application to Hendrix are automatically considered for Academic Scholarships. The scholarship committee examines students high school GPA and standardized test scores in addition to leadership and extracurricular activities and letters of recommendation. Application Process: Students must be admitted into the College. A campus visit is required. Deadline: Priority consideration for Academic Scholarships is given to those students who submit completed admissions applications to Hendrix postmarked by December 1. Notification: On a rolling basis. Hays Memorial Scholarships Full comprehensive fee (tuition, room, board, and mandatory fees) for up to four years of Students with a minimum high school GPA of 3.6 in college preparatory courses and a minimum composite score of 32 on the ACT or a minimum combined score of 1410 on the SAT. The Hays Selection Committee also considers leadership and extracurricular activities, the on-campus interview, and letters of recommendation. Application Process: Hays Applications are mailed to qualified applicants in December and are available online through the Financial Aid Web site. The Hays Selection Committee interviews candidates on campus in February. Interested students must apply for admission by December 1. Deadline: The completed Hays application must be postmarked by January 15. Notification: The four winners of the Hays Memorial Scholarship are announced in early March. Arkansas Governor s Distinguished Scholar Awards Full comprehensive fee (tuition, room, board, and mandatory fees) for up to four years of full-time enrollment Accepted freshman applicants who receive the $10,000 Arkansas Governor s Distinguished Scholarship and who have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5, a minimum composite score of 32 on the ACT or a minimum combined score of 1410 on the SAT; or who have been selected as National Merit Finalists or National Achievement Scholars. Application process: Applications for the Arkansas Governor s Distinguished Scholarship may be obtained through your high school counselor s office. Application is made directly to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. Deadline: Students must submit the application for the Governor s Distinguished Scholar Awards to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education by February 1. Notification: The State of Arkansas notifies Hendrix of eligible students. This award is automatic upon receipt of the Arkansas Governor s Distinguished Scholarship. National Merit,National Achievement,and National Hispanic Finalists $1,000 per year for up to four years of National Merit, National Achievement, and National Hispanic Finalists who name Hendrix as their first college choice. Application process: Test scores on the PSAT/NMSQT determine selection of these awards through The National Merit Scholarship Program. Deadline: The test must be taken by the junior year of high school. Notification: This award is automatic upon notification from the College Board of the student s selection to one of the above awards. Robert and Ruby Priddy Scholarships Amounts vary Students from middle income families who do not qualify for larger merit-based scholarships or for federal grants but who show exceptional promise for success at Hendrix and for leadership and service. Application process: Students must make an official visit to the Hendrix campus and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Deadline: The priority date for the FAFSA is February 15. Notification: Priddy Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis.
4 Odyssey Distinction Awards $1,000 to $5,000 per year for up to four years of full-time enrollment (may be awarded in addition to other Hendrix scholarships) Your Hendrix Odyssey: Engaging in Active Learning is a completely new way to experience a college education. Hendrix has redefined higher education as a far-reaching, wide-ranging journey that extends beyond the major, GPA, and list of completed courses. We celebrate all the accomplishments and activities of a student s college career that contribute to his/her growth as a person. The Odyssey Distinction Awards are designed to recognize these accomplishments at the secondary school level and encourage students to pursue similar experiences at Hendrix. The awards are presented in six categories: Artistic Creativity, Global Awareness; Professional and Leadership Development; Service to the World; Undergraduate Research and Special Projects. Accepted applicants to Hendrix College. Application Process: Students who submit a completed admissions application to Hendrix are automatically considered. Recipients are selected by a scholarship committee and the amount of the award is determined by the committee based on their assessment of out-ofclass accomplishments in high school. Unlike most of the Hendrix academic scholarships, the Odyssey Awards can be added to other scholarships a student may receive from the College. Notification: Odyssey Distinction Awards are granted on a rolling basis.
5 Performing and Fine Arts Scholarships $500-$5,000 per year for up to four years of Applicants for admission to Hendrix who demonstrate talent in the areas of music, theatre, and art. An intended major in music, theatre or art is not required. Application Process: An on-campus audition with a member of the faculty is required for music and theatre awards. Those applying for art awards may submit slides of artwork with a written explanation of the art for consideration. Deadline: Priority consideration for these scholarships is given to those students who submit completed admission applications to Hendrix by February 1. Hendrix College Leadership Awards $1,000-3,500 per year for up to four years of Accepted applicants to Hendrix who have a demonstrated record of leadership experience, activities and honors. Application process: Applications are distributed in acceptance packets and are available online through the Financial Aid Web site. Deadline: Applicants must submit a Leadership Scholarship application postmarked by February 1. United Methodist Youth Fellowship Leadership Scholarships $1,000-3,500 per year for up to four years of Accepted applicants to Hendrix with leadership experience in local and regional United Methodist Youth ministries. Application process: Applications are distributed in acceptance packets and are available online through the Financial Aid Web site. Deadline: Accepted applicants must submit a UMYF Leadership application to Hendrix postmarked by February 1. Hendrix-Lilly Service Scholarships $3,500 per year for up to four years of Accepted applicants to Hendrix who have a record of effective and enthusiastic participation in volunteer service projects and who demonstrate a resolve to make leadership through volunteer service a part of their future. Application process: Applications are distributed in acceptance packets and are available online through the Financial Aid Web site. Deadline: The scholarship application must be submitted to Hendrix postmarked by February 1.
