Discuss the efficacy and safety of medications to treat obesity and the reasons for long-term use. 3. Explain diagnosis and treatment of specific medical comorbidities in obese pediatric patients. 4. Recognize the complex pathophysiology of body weight regulation and obesity. 5. Discuss the indications and available options for bariatric surgery. 6. Discuss the identification and management of potential complications following bariatric surgery. 7. Describe the natural course of weight loss after common bariatric procedures. 8. Develop management approaches that optimize weight-loss maintenance using behavioral and pharmacologic options. Target audience Primary care providers, nurse practitioners, endocrinologists and other allied health professionals who care for patients with obesity Accreditation Legacy Health is accredited by the Oregon Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
