Welcome Everyone! It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Deadwood for this spring conference of SDMGMA.

2 Welcome Everyone! It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Deadwood for this spring conference of SDMGMA. Deadwood has so much history of the Wild West with gold mining being the biggest draw to the area, and now the opportunity to play those games of chance that are also a part of the history of the area. Of course now, the games of chance are more varied and empty wallets are more common than bullets flying to end the game. Do you feel like you might as well toss a coin or spin a roulette wheel to determine your next actions in order to deal with the unknown effects of all of the changes in our healthcare environment? Our Education Committee has pondered the unknowns and has come up with a great lineup of speakers and topics that should provide us with knowledge that can help us stay away from the unlucky spin of the wheel. Topics range from income related items emerging payment models and being able to continue to bill with ICD-10 on the horizon to potential fine areas linked to security audits or HIPAA violations. I am very excited to participate in the sessions with Mary Kelly as she walks us through managing change and also leadership strategies. But the best part of this conference is the chance to visit with friends and colleagues from around the state and exchange ideas and solutions to our daily issues.
