Employers, business owners, community advocates and individuals who take aggressive action toward implementing wellness programs will see decreased healthcare costs, increased awareness for both low- and high-risk employees, and reduced absenteeism, which can save the company and the community thousands of dollars. This conference will show you how to implement effective wellness programs, collect and analyze data to find out what s working, how to measure your return on investment and implement evidence-based practices, strategies and programs and so much more. Organizations of all sizes and industries will find a benefit in the information and resources shared at this conference. Through the Portage County Life report*, obesity, mental and oral health were identified as priority objectives in the community. These are issues facing area worksites, communities, homes and families. By pooling resources, Ministry and collaborating partners can decrease the impact these issues have in our community. Total Worker Health: Bridging the gap between health and safety has never been more important to employers, individuals and communities Providing total lifestyle health to an individual, employee and your community is the key. Summit participants will learn how to prevent injuries and illness while enhancing employee well-being. Trending through the Legal Waters of Wellness Abigail Nadler, M3 As a leader in the industry, Abigail will deliver intensive strategies to help employers meet the needs to increase employee well-being and in turn, the success of the organization. This presentation will provide crucial information and address the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on worksite wellness, as well as an update on the current litigation around worksite wellness programs. This valuable session will demonstrate progressive wellness programming and how to design a compliant wellness program. 2. How Stress Can Impact Your Employees RaeAnn Thomas, Ministry Medical Group, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Stress is just one of the factors that can negatively impact both employee health and productivity. RaeAnn Thomas will outline how to build an effective EAP that employees will utilize. She ll highlight the importance of privacy, referrals from supervisors, along with promoting the program in a way that both encourages and supports employees participation in EAP. She ll explain how to make the most of your EAP program to help reduce lost work time, presentism, absenteeism, and ultimately grow your business. 4 OVERVIEW AGENDA SPEAKERS Making Your Worksite Wellness Strategy a Business Advantage Amy Richter, CHES, Dedicated and focused on bringing out the strengths in her clients and colleagues to live longer, healthier lives. Her ability to create well-rounded, results-oriented wellness programs is complemented by her problem-solving skills and ability to think outside of the box. Amy joined Associated Financial Group in 2010 with a background in promoting health and wellness in both the public and private sector. Her education and work experiences have provided her with unique skill sets, including wellness project management from strategic development through implementation and evaluation. KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Victor Stretcher, PhD, Professor and Director for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan Schools of Public Health and Medicine. Dr. Strecher is working to create an environment that promotes more direct dissemination of research efforts to improve the public s health nationally and globally. KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Ann Kulze, MD, Physician, best-selling author, and motivational speaker, Dr. Ann Kulze is on a personal crusade to share with as many people as possible the joys of living well. She is a renowned authority in the areas of nutrition, healthy lifestyles and disease prevention and noted for her unique ability to transform all of the new science of healthy living into programs that are simple, easy and fun! Sally Scoville, PhD, Associate Professor in the School of Health Promotion and Human Development, College of Professional Studies, University of Wisconsin Stevens Point (UWSP). Sallie also oversees the employee wellness program at UWSP, which was awarded a Bronze Level Award from the Governor s Worksite Wellness Program. Her field of study includes worksite health promotion programs and designing effective interventions for community and corporate clients. She also has published articles about developing experiential learning programs for students. Brenda Diamond, Licensed dental hygienist who joined Ministry Dental Center in Diamond graduated from North Central Technical College with an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene in In 1994 she returned to college and received a BS degree in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Ms. Diamond is an active member of Rotary International serving on the board as the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Chair and is involved with the Partners of America Nicaragua Project traveling to Estelí in 2010 to work with the community on enhancing the area s pre-school and lending library. Since 2011, she has beena member of the NTC Dental Hygiene Advisory Board. Brian Harrison, MD, Medical Director of Affinity Medical Group Employer Solutions in Menasha. He graduated from Mayo Medical School in 1982 and has specialized in Occupational Medicine since Dr. Harrison is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, the American Board of Family Practice, and is a certified Medical Review Officer and Independent Medical Examiner. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. He has been published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and was a contributor to the ACOEM Health and Productivity Management Toolkit. Casey Jordan, Health Educator in Health & Wellness Ministry Medical Group Employer Solutions. She graduated from the UW-Stevens Point in the spring of 2013 with a degree in Health Promotion and Wellness. Casey enjoys spending time with family, playing games, and being physically active. Abigail Nadler, Health Promotions Advisor at M3 Insurance. Her primary role is to advise clients on the development of health promotion and wellness strategies that effectively engage employees in healthier lifestyles. She is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Wellness Council of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Physical Activity and Nutrition Program (WIPAN) and the Wisconsin Initiative to Promote Healthy Lifestyles (WIPHL). In her free time, Abigail enjoys being active outdoors, participating in spring triathlons with her family and volunteering. Tim Pingel, CWP, CWWPM, Health & Wellness Manager at J. J. Keller & Associates; a family owned manufacturing company in Neenah, WI with 1,300 associates. He is a current Board Member of the Wellness Council of Wisconsin and has 18 years as an experienced corporate wellness practitioner with extensive knowledge in onsite clinic and fitness center management. Through the years Tim has developed a successful results-oriented wellness program that has earned J. J. Keller the coveted Well Workplace Platinum Award from the Wellness Council of America. Tim has a strong passion for health and wellness that is easily seen through his personal drive and his fun sense of humor. Jessica Raddemann, Executive Director of the Wellness Council of Wisconsin, a statewide non-profit organization whose vision is to improve health to empower business. With a career spanning 15 years, Jessica applies her industry expertise as a healthcare consultant and corporate wellness strategist. In addition, as a wellness leader in Wisconsin, Jessica serves as a member of multiple statewide coalitions to advance worksite wellness along with addressing risk factors such as obesity. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education, a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) designation, and a Wisconsin resident Life and Accident & Health Insurance License. Traci Smet, ATC, PES, CSCS, Industrial rehabilitation athletic trainer that designed the Functional Integrated Training (FIT) program at Ministry Medical Group Employer Solutions. FIT brings strength and conditioning along with injury prevention in the workplace. Traci serves as a leader and member of multiple Portage County coalitions that bring active events and impact obesity in to the area. She is involved in tactical athletic training education on the national level. Derek Bell, Health Promotion & Wellness Consultant for Ministry Medical Group Employer Solutions. Derek leads initiatives to integrate health and wellness services and programs and enhance wellness cultures at client companies. Utilizing the Total Lifestyle Care (TLC) approach, Derek works with client leadership to design wellness programs to deliver a total care system to the employee. Derek previously was the Director of the National Wellness Institute. Derek earned his BA from Knox College, his MS from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and is a WELCOA Faculty member. RaeAnn Thomas, Director of Employee Assistance Program, Ministry Medical Group Employer Solutions, has been with Ministry Health Care for 21 years. When she s not serving the needs of her clients, she spends time rescuing Irish Setters and doing philanthropic work for the non-profit organization For One Child of India, which she founded.
