2 LINCOLNSHIRE PARTNERSHIP NHS FOUNDATION TRUST JOB DESCRIPTION 1. Job Details Job Title: Assistant Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Pay Band: Band 4 Reports to (Title): Accountable to: Team Coordinator Service Manager Location/Site/Base: 2. Job Purpose The post-holder will work within the steps2change service to support the delivery of high volume low intensity interventions. The post holder will support qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP) to provide short term interventions based upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to patients with mild to moderate anxiety disorders and depression. The postholder will work in the service for 37.5 hours a week over 5 days, between the hours of 8am to 8pm offering flexible appointment times to suit client need. 3. Nature of the Service The steps2change service provides NICE compliant treatment for a range of anxiety disorders and depression, as part of a stepped care model. 4. 3 5. Duties Undertake assessments in line with service protocols; these may be conducted face to face or on the telephone and will be reviewed by a more senior clinician. Make decisions on suitability of new patients, adhering to the service s protocols and refer unsuitable patients to the relevant service or back to the referrer as necessary in conjunction with the live supervisor. Conduct risk and safeguarding assessments, and take appropriate action in line with the organisation s risk management processes and procedures, with supervision from a senior colleague. Support PWPs to provide a range of information and support for evidence based highvolume low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help, computerised CBT, courses and workshops. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media. Adhere to an agreed level of activity contact relating to the overall number of patient contacts required, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient. Attend team meetings, or any other meetings as requested by your manager Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach. Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process. Prepare and present clinical information for all patients on their caseload to clinical case management supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and the clinical governance obligations of the worker, supervisor and service are delivered. Respond to and implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in clinical practice. Engage in, and respond to, personal development supervision to improve competences and clinical practice. 6.Skills Required for the Post Communication and relationship skills The post holder is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely written records are kept which comply with the Trust policy and steps2change protocol. Receiving & sharing sensitive & occasionally complex information The post holder is responsible for ensuring that relevant information is shared with relevant agencies. Analytical and judgment skills Range of facts or situations requiring analysis. Skills for assessing patients regarding suitability for steps2change, analysis of clinical information to aid judgement and identification of problem descriptor. Use of clinical judgement regarding appropriate treatment interventions, ongoing monitoring and, analysis of patient progress to aid decision making regarding discharge or stepping up to step 3 interventions. Planning and organisational skills Plan & prioritise own workload including assessments, 1:1 sessions, ccbt, courses and workshops and case management supervision. Physical skills Keyboard and driving skills, use of basic psychometric test equipment/ formal restraint training. 7. Responsibilities of the Post Holder Responsibilities for direct/indirect patient care Implement evidence based interventions under supervision.
4 Deliver individual and group sessions with support Responsibilities for policy and service development implementation Follow departmental policies. Responsibilities for financial and physical resources Personal duty of care in relation to equipment and resources. Responsibilities for human resources (including training) None Responsibilities for information resources Record all self-generated information within the patient s clinical notes on IAPTus. Responsibilities for research and development Participate in audit and research as required and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, policy review and practice development. 8. Freedom to Act Work within departmental, occupational guidelines; work is supervised. 9. Effort & Environment Physical effort Combination of sitting, standing, walking/frequent sitting or standing in a restricted position. Light physical effort for short periods/sits in constrained position for patient therapy, interview sessions. Mental effort Concentration for patient sessions/prolonged concentration for patient interventions. Emotional effort Frequent distressing or emotional circumstances Provide therapy service to emotionally demanding patients Working conditions Occasional/frequent unpleasant conditions/some exposure to hazards. Verbal abuse, hostility/ risk of physical aggression. 10.
