The initiative of setting up the institute came as result of the desire need the communities of nugal region in particular in particular and Puntland in general. Although there were scarcity and inadequate of resources and facilities of institute, and at the same time it has gradually progressed to produce a number of medical practitioners of the local inhabitants as health professionals for the region as well as the entire state. The World Health organization (WHO) contributes all technical support on curriculum, syllabus and teaching materials. Meanwhile, WHO has added a midwifery syllabus? In conjunction with the SAVE THE CHILDREN also support us on alternative livelihood support by skilled training of the three times of 130 students on Auxiliary nurse with the aim of making use and uplifting their standard of living. Haji Abdi Health training institute comprises of two sections DIPLOMA nursing and MIDWIFERY as well. The tutors of the institute included qualified nurses from the institute itself and Bachelor s Decree holders from abroad such us SUDAN, KENYA, ITHOPIA and other countries. In addition to that there are some sessions held by guest lectures for doctors. The tutors are 15(Fifteen). Among these are guest lectures and the rest are the normal teachers. 10 Acknowledgment Our unlimited appreciation goes to the Ministry of health WHO Puntland for their recognition of students who graduated in employing them particularly MOH while WHO assist the institute with teaching materials and syllabus.
