The campaign challenges employers, federal, state and county agencies to increase recruitment efforts for the time period of June 1 through September 9, 2014 and to encourage an increase in veteran hiring. All businesses as well as government agencies that possess a Federal Tax ID number are eligible to participate. All veterans that are hired must be a resident of Maryland. Businesses are not required to be based in Maryland. Businesses can register online using the Operation Hire site: d/1yaguxkry72zbqkvbmpzf17_1i3cnukyxhleqricohlq/ viewform The Maryland Veterans Administration (MDVA) will track participation and hiring data. At the conclusion of Operation Hire, MDVA will compile and review data. Based on the data received, special recognition will be given to the employer with the most veteran hires and the employer with the largest percentage of veteran hires by work force size. 3 Quarterly Charts Program Years 2012 and 2013 Fourth Quarter Over Quarter The chart at right represents activity of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) only. All Job Market customers qualify for DLLR s universally accessible labor exchange services. As a result, the agency serves large numbers of job seekers and this chart provides additional detail. * Numbers in the 4rd quarter of PY 12 are significant less than in the 4rd quarter of PY 13. This is due to the Ocean City Job Fair falling in the 4th quarter in PY 13 instead of the 3rd quarter of PY 13. The job fair draws on average of 4,000 to 5,000 job seekers. Please visit: sites/2/2014/05/operation-hire-rules-for-website.pdf To kick off this campaign, Greg Eberts, Labor Exchange Administrator for DLLR, participated in an interview with WMDT, a local television station located here in Salisbury, Maryland. He explained the purpose of Operation Hire and why it is good for veterans, their families and Eastern Shore communities and businesses. He stated that it will bring the remarkable skills and qualities of the veterans into the business community. He went on to state that veterans now receive priority of service everyday at the One-Stop Job Market which means that they go to the front of the line to receive service and referrals to employment and training opportunities. He encourages employers to register for the program as it will be an exciting opportunity for them to fill a human resource need with a military veteran. One-Stop staff are ready today to serve veterans and match them to job openings that utilizes their job skills. They are also ready to assist employers with their registration and facilitate the listing of their job openings. 7 Operation Hire: Maryland s 100 Day Veteran Hiring Challenge Fact Sheet By Becky Cathell, Administrative Specialist, Purpose: The purpose of Operation Department Hire is to of enhance Labor, Licensing current efforts and Regulation to support veteran hiring in Maryland. This Campaign challenges employers, federal, state, and county agencies to increase recruitment efforts for the next 100 days and to encourage an increase in veteran hiring. Eligibility: Businesses as well as federal, state, and local agencies that possess a Federal Tax ID number are eligible to participate. Employers are not required to be based in Maryland; however they must hire a Maryland resident who is a veteran for purposes of Operation Hire. Duration of Challenge: Operation Hire: Maryland s 100 Day Veteran Hiring Challenge will take place from June 1 September 9, The Challenge will conclude at 5 p.m. EST on September 9, I AM AN EMPLOYER: How Can My Organization Participate? 1. Complete the online registration form. There is no deadline for registration. 2. Visit the MDVA Veteran Employer Tool Kit. 3. Register on the Maryland Workforce Exchange. 4. Contact a local One Stop Career Center to speak with a Veteran Representative and share job announcements. 5. Contact the MDVA at mdveteransinfo@maryland.gov to share job announcements. 11 One-Stop Customer Satisfaction Survey Summary The One-Stop Job Market Customer Satisfaction Survey was implemented in January The survey document has evolved into a resource that rates the One-Stop Job Market and the Mobile Unit on the environment presented to our customers. The information in this document includes information from 50 One-Stop Job Market surveys collected during the period of June 9, 2014 and June 13, The Mobile Unit did not do any surveys during this quarter. ************************************************************************************ Overall, during this sample week, customers rated One-Stop Job Market services with an average of 3.73 on a scale of 1-4.
