2 WHAT IS THE ONE-STOP CAREER CENTER? One-Stop Centers are a single point-of-entry to services and programs that prepares individuals for employment. The center brings together various organizations and agencies, both public and private for the benefit of both employers and job seekers; Department of Economic Security, TANF Services, Rehabilitation, Veterans services, job training programs and community college programs. The ultimate goal of the Center is to provide individuals with the necessary tools to secure positions that will enable them to be self sufficient. 2

11 YOUTH SERVICES REQUIRES REGISTRATION & FOLLOW-UP SERVICES If you are between the ages of 14 to 21 years old, you might qualify to receive services such as; Academic enrichment Career planning Work experience Leadership development Occupational skills training 11

12 ELIGIBILITY The education and job training programs are funded through the Workforce Investment Act (W.I.A.). There is no charge for these programs, but unfortunately, not everyone who applies is able to participate because of limited federal funding. Enrollment is determined by several factors such as: Ability to benefit Commitment level Identify need Past work history Income criteria 12

13 YOU COULD BE A DISLOCATED WORKER! If you have been permanently laid off or terminated through no fault of your own, or If you are a displaced homemaker (Please speak with one of our Customer Service Associates for further information) 13

14 INTERESTED IN INTENSIVE OR TRAINING SERVICES? If you are interested in intensive or training services after this orientation, you will meet with an eligibility worker to fill out several forms and provide requested documentation. You may also be scheduled for an registration appointment. You will then continue with the assessment process, which includes the following: Test of Adult Basic Education (Reading, Math, Language). Comprehensive assessment. Core Level Workshop are optional. Eligibility criteria does not guarantee program enrollment. 14

15 EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY CENTER CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL The high school offers at-risk students from age 16 to 21 a flexible, workfocused way to earn their high school diploma Days/hours of operation: Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. 15
