3 WINNER CERTIFICATE IV BIBA Academy s Certificate IV in Hairdressing (SIH40111) is Government accredited and Centerlink approved, making the course accessible to more students. Successful completion of BIBA Academy s Cert IV covers advanced hairdressing techniques and provides the hands on experience and knowledge required to work at an advanced senior stylist level at any top hairdressing salon. Certificate IV in Hairdressing covers: Providing technical leadership, coordinating and managing people and teams Advanced colouring Advanced cutting Hair design Session styling This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior hairdressers who develop complex technical skills and knowledge working as part of or co-ordinating a salon team. It includes senior hairdressers who work as technical advisers with a hairdressing products company; or independently as a freelance session stylist. Functions at this level include the self-directed application of a broad range of knowledge and skills and the provision of technical leadership, training and support to colleagues. A hairdresser at this level may provide specialist services, including haircutting, hair design, hair colouring and complex correction. After achieving Cert IV in hairdressing individuals may undertake: SIB50210 Diploma of Salon Management SIH70111 Vocational Graduate Certificate in Hairdressing Creative Leadership It is a per-requisite to complete Cert III in Hairdressing (or equivalent) prior to commencing Cert IV in Hairdressing. As part of the enrollment application, applicants must submit a portfolio of evidence of current vocational expertise. A Training Salon has been established within the Academy, inviting the public to be models for the students. At BIBA real life hands on experience makes up 80% of a student s learning process and provides invaluable hands-on experience.

6 CERTIFICATE IV ENROLMENTS Cert IV in Hairdressing is designed to build on the foundation skills acquired through the completion of the Cert III in Hairdressing or equivalent. Entry to this qualification is open to those who have vocational expertise in the hairdressing industry. Vocational expertise must be current (within the last 4 months) and include a minimum of 2 of the 3 points below: Experience as an operator in a commercially run salon Provision of cutting, styling and chemical service Establishment of clientele base A collection of evidence of current vocational expertise must be presented in portfolio format upon application Forms of evidence may include, but not limited to: References from current or previous employer/salon manager Print out of appointment book showing provision of cutting, styling and chemical service Collection of personal development training (certificates) Written feedback from clients Photographs, articles, video footage of carrying out hairdressing services Copy of Certificate III in Hairdressing DURATION The Certificate IV in Hairdressing involves : 27 contact weeks at 2 days a week (Monday s & Tuesday s). During this time each student must demonstrate competency in all aspects of hairdressing at a high standard and complete nominal 430 hours. BIBA Academy opens its doors at 9:15am and closes at 6:00pm daily. Classes operate Monday-Friday Start 9:45am-5:00/6:00pm Monthly enrolments
7 CERTIFICATE IV THE GOVERNMENT TRAINING GUARANTEE (VTG) - GOVERNMENT FUNDING All students enrolling in Certificate IV in 2013 who are not eligible for Government Funding must pay fee-for-service as follows: 2013 Enrolment T.C.F per nom hour Nominal Hours Total Student Contribution fee With Concession Fee Student Service & Amenities Fee March $ $ $ $162 April $ $ $ $162 May $ $ $ $162 June $ $ $ $132 July $ $ $ $120 August $ $ $93.80 $96 September $ $ $69.90 $72 October $ $ $53.40 $54 November $ $ $29.40 $30 This charge is a calculation of the nominal hours of the qualification, for Cert IV in Hairdressing SIH4111 to total 430 nominal hours. The second fee is the Student Service and Amenities Fee. this is a yearly fee of maximum $162. Should your course carry over to the next calendar year both these fees are due in January each year of your course. If you enrol in September for example you will pay a portion and pay a full or part yearly fee in January the following year depending on course duration. Your concession card must be valid at the time of enrolment and each January that you are on course. If your concession card is not valid during January you will not receive your discount. TUITION FEES AND CHARGES 2013 Enrolment $290 Payable on enrolment to secure a place Tuition $5,000
8 CERTIFICATE IV GOVERNMENT FUNDED TRAINING ELIGIBILITY 2013 The following diagram will help applicants determine whether they are eligible for the Victorian and Commonwealth Government Funding. An individual is eligible to undertake a maximum of two Government funded courses at any given time in All training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding. Does the applicant meet the citizenship / residency requirements? Is the applicant under 20 in Jan 1 in the year in which the course commence? Applicant is eligible for a government subsidised place. 9 CERTIFICATE IV STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES LEGISLATION BIBA Academy will be sensitive to all cross-cultral issues and meet the special needs of students (especially those under the age of 18). Students at the Academy will receive adequate orientation and access to information regarding: Accommodation Counselling Concurrent assistance Welfare facilities Literacy and numeracy assistance Should students require advice on any of the above-mentioned services, they are requested to see Charlotte at the BIBA Academy office. BIBA Academy will also ensure that students have access to fair and equitable processes for dealing with complaints.
