6 TEAM FUNCTIONS TEAM DINNER Tuesday, March 28 Location: Sweet Tomatoes [located at N. 26 th Drive, Phoenix, Arizona 85021] Time: 7: 30 p.m. We will continue the tradition of a team dinner provided by the Booster Club. Families are welcome to join but may not be guaranteed to sit in the same area as players. Dress code for players for dinner is a collared shirt and khaki pants (with belt). Parents are welcome to join the team, but will be asked to pay for their meal. DIAMONDBACKS GAME Thursday, March 30 at 6:40 p.m. We will be attending a Diamondbacks game on Thursday night at Chase Field. Game start time: 6:40 p.m Evergreen Cougar Spring Trip Packet Page 6
7 CHECK LIST OF ESSENTIAL ITEMS TO PACK Players should pack for 3 baseball games, 1 Scrimmage and 1-2 practices, evening activities and clothes to wear at pool and around hotel. Average temperatures in Phoenix in the last week of March are highs of 80 and lows of mid 50 s. Players are allowed a baseball bag, one suitcase and a backpack on the bus. Common sense should be the rule, but here are guidelines of essential items: Baseball glove(s) Bat(s) Game Jerseys [Gold sleeveless] Two pairs of game pants [White with Navy Blue piping; Gray with Navy Blue piping] Cleats Game Belt Cougar Hoodie [No need to bring any other jacket] EHS Baseball Cap Sunglasses Cougar practice gear for up to 2 practices plus scrimmage Turf shoes Swimsuit Personal hygiene items Casual wear for 5 days Snacks Sunscreen Collared shirt and khaki pants for team dinner 2017 Evergreen Cougar Spring Trip Packet Page 7
8 Varsity Player will also need to pack a Towel for showering after the game on Friday (we are requesting access to the Greenway HS locker room). CURFEW Coaches will conduct a bed check every night no later than 10:30. Players violating curfew will be subject to discipline at the discretion of the coaches. MEALS Breakfast is included at the hotel. The team will eat breakfast from approximately 6:30 am - 8:15 am each morning (depending on game times). The team dinner (Tuesday) night is provided by the Booster Club. Players will be responsible for snacks on the bus, lunch every day, snacks throughout the week, and dinner Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. We anticipate that the players will visit a store on Monday to stock up on snacks for the week. There are numerous dinner options near the hotel. Players will be responsible for purchasing their own food at the Spring Training game on Thursday night. Pizza will be provided at the hotel after the scrimmage on Thursday. MONEY FOR EXPENSES AND FOOD Players should bring money for snacks on the bus, snacks during the week, lunch every day, and dinner for 3 nights. Players may also need money for personal items. It is recommended that each player bring between $150 and $200 for these expenses. BUS TRIP The bus will leave the EHS Parking lot at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, and will return on Saturday, April 1 at approximately 10:00 a.m. (Return time is an estimate depending on departure time, weather, and traffic). We generally have the players call when we are an hour out of Evergreen. Each player may bring a suitcase, a baseball bag and a backpack on the bus. Transportation is by charter bus so players will be able to sleep, read, watch movies, etc. Stops will be made for snack breaks throughout the trip. The team will use the bus to travel to games, practices and team functions while in Arizona. Please make sure name tags are on bags. Note: Given the location of our multiple schedules, we will need parent assistance transporting players to game venues. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS At all times, including the bus ride, evenings at the hotel, and at team functions, players are representing the Evergreen High School Baseball Program. Players are expected to conduct themselves accordingly and in compliance with the 2017 Spring Baseball Team Rules and Expectations handout. Discipline of players in violation of this standard (including the 2017 Spring Baseball Team Rules and Expectations handout) is at the discretion of the coaches Evergreen Cougar Spring Trip Packet Page 8
9 RETURN TRAVEL WITH PARENTS Players may return to Colorado with their parents, provided that: (i) A written or electronic (i.e. or text) request has been submitted to Head Baseball Coach Steve Jones at least one week in advance; and (ii) Such request has been approved by Head Baseball Coach Steve Jones Evergreen Cougar Spring Trip Packet Page 9
