2 CARING FOR YOUNG MINDS BLACK COLLEGE TOUR 2016 The Caring for Young Minds Black College Tour is located in Baltimore, Maryland. While most of our students are from the DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area, each year we welcome students from across the United States. The tour departs from Baltimore and if you are planning to attend the tour, you must make arrangements to be here in Baltimore the morning of departure. Exceptions apply. Contact us for more information. For those students traveling from states outside of the DMV, when plans are made to join to the tour, you are assigned a sponsor from our local area to help you coordinate your transportation here to Baltimore. The sponsor is a member of the Caring For Young Minds Staff. There are two phases of the College Tour Phase 1: Meet with the admission s office. Students are escorted into an auditorium on campus and presented with all information about the school, including admissions, financial aid and campus life. Phase 2: Walking Tour the students are given a walking tour on the campus by the college students. Our Tentative Itinerary for the 2016 Tour - Subject to change. Departure Day: Saturday, March 26 12:00a.m. from Randallstown High School, 4000 Offutt Road, Randallstown, MD Traveling to North Carolina to Tour North Carolina Central University. Afterwards, depart for New Orleans, LA. Sunday March 27 (Easter Sunday) we will attend worship at a local church in New Orleans, LA. Appropriate Attire is required. Monday March 28 Tour Dillard and Xavier Universities (depart for Mississippi) Tuesday March 29 Tour Jackson State and Alcorn State Universities (depart for Atlanta) Wednesday March 30 Tour Tuskegee and Alabama State Universities Thursday March 31 Tour Atlanta University Centers (Clark, Morehouse and Spelman). Friday April 1 Theme Park (Depart for Baltimore at 10:00pm) Saturday April 2 Return to Baltimore at 12:00pm

3 Frequently Asked Questions! Transportation: Luxury motor coach Boys and girls travel separately. Hotel: We are contracted under the Marriott Hotel Chain. Students are housed 4 per room and are requested to select their own roommates. If you don't know your roommate, you will have an opportunity to meet them at the student Mixer. Food: Eat on Campus, Buffet style restaurants, fast food restaurants and private dining in hotel. Snacks are also available. Uniform: You will be issued 4 t-shirts; you will khaki colored slacks/skirt; black and white outfit; comfortable shoes; rain gear. A uniform list and itinerary will be published in February. Chaperones (How many chaperone do we take?) We take one chaperone for every 5 th child. They are selected from the CFYM Staff, teachers and church youth leaders. They have all attend Risk Management Training and background checks. Medical Staff Registered Nurses travel with the tour group. If your child takes medication, please ensure that they can store and administer their own medications. If not, the nurses are available to assist. Security Personnel We have three off-duty police officers who travel with the tour. Their job is to watch over the Tour while we sleep and handle any problems which may arise. What can I bring? One (1) Piece of luggage and one book bag (which should fit in the overhead compartments). You are welcomed to bring: Movies to share with the bus (G or PG13) Headphones should be worn at all times when listening to your music and any items which will make you comfortable on the bus and in the hotel as long as it is within regulation. How much money should I bring? No more than $ Tour is all-inclusive. 4 CARING FOR YOUNG MINDS HEATH POLICY Our goal is to protect the health and wellbeing of your child, during our college tour. Therefore, we have developed a health policy which we ask you to follow. The following should be acknowledged: 1) If your child is exhibiting an onset of a contagious disease prior to the tour such as Conjunctivitis (pink eye), meningitis (Caused by a virus in the brain) Tuberculosis (An infection of the lungs) please contact us immediately. 2) Please inform the RN if your child is taking medications on a daily basis, and if they are capable of taking them on their own or if they need a reminder. 3) Send all medications in their original container 4) NO Drugs of any kind - other than prescription drugs or over the counter (OTC) are permitted. 5) If your child has behavioral problems, let the RN know what their needs are. 6) Make sure your child brings comfortable shoes for walking.

I also give full permission for the organization to arrange all necessary food, lodging, and transportation for registrant. Pertinent medical information has been provided to make necessary emergency decisions should the need arise/if applicable. All tour participants are instructed to self-medicate. However, in the event of an emergency, I hereby give permission to the nurse on tour, physician or medical personnel selected by the tour to secure and administer treatment, including hospitalization, for my child. In the event I cannot be reached, I give permission to the Caring for Young Minds Black College Tour to seek emergency medical treatment including administering necessary medication, ordering x-rays or routine tests. I agree to the release of any records necessary for emergency medical decisions and insurance purposes. I hereby hold harmless, indemnify and defend Caring for Young Minds Black College Tour, Inc., its officers, volunteers, and all affiliates of the tour for and from any and all liability, claims, losses, injuries, expenses, fee and/or damages arising out of any injury, illness or death to my child or property damage during my child s participation with the tour. I further release and will not hold liable Caring For Young Minds Black College Tour and all affiliates for any injury, death, damage and/or loss to my child, and/or anyone claiming on my child s behalf, and I further agree to hold harmless, indemnify and defend. All students listed on the form must be in agreement with their assigned room and must be present when submitting the form for approval In cases where rooming lists are incomplete, i.e. one, two or three persons listed, assignments will be made based on the criteria of the persons already in the room. If no form is filled out, CFYM will assign rooms based on its own criteria.
