3 OUR LADY OF HOPE From the Pastor s Desk Dear Friends: W hy go into the desert and cry out? The voice in the desert is lonesome, heard only by those who go there to listen. Good News comes out of the desert! John s preaching points us to our destination in Jesus and to what makes Him happy. In these last days of Advent, as we prepare for Christmas, I suggest that we listen to the voice in our own hearts. What message does John give us personally from the desert? Is it a message to just lay low and not worry about the real meaning of Advent? Or, is a message that touches our hearts as to how we may change our ways to be more Christian. I think the perfect gift we can give Jesus on Christmas day is the gift of a change of heart, value and attitude that will be more Christian. THANK YOU to OLH This is a long overdue thank-you to all the wonderful members of OLH for their genuine caring, concern and support of Bernie and me during Bernie s 2.5 year battle with cancer and since his death. It has a meant a great deal. December 15 marks one year since I lost Bernie, and the emptiness I feel is indescribable. We love each other so very much. The outpouring of support at his death was incredible, so that I am still writing thank-you notes. May God bless each of you, and may your families have a very blessed Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. Enjoy every precious moment with those you love.
