1 The Bruce A. Harris Symposium PROGRESS IN OB/GYN 2013 for Physicians and Nurses April 4-5, 2013 Wynfrey Hotel at the Riverchase Galleria Birmingham, Alabama Sponsored by Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Division of Continuing Medical Education
2 Conference Invitation I am very pleased to announce the Bruce A. Harris Symposium: Progress in OB/GYN 2013 to be held April 4-5 in Birmingham at the Wynfrey Hotel in the Riverchase Galleria. As you have noticed, we have moved to a spring date. This is due to hotel construction, but we are excited about this change and hope you will be, too. If you like the meeting at this time better than February, please let us know and perhaps we will hold it in April each year. This is a professional development opportunity sponsored by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Division of Continuing Medical Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. This course has been a longstanding tradition for OB/GYN physicians and nurses. The meeting offers outstanding course faculty presenting sessions on the most recent advances in OB/ GYN and the opportunity for networking and discussion. In addition to the presentations and the ever-popular, Stump the luncheon, there are also a number of posters detailing research in various topics of OB/GYN. These posters are available throughout the meeting for viewing at your convenience. As always, we have taken many of your topic suggestions from the 2012 conference evaluations and tried to integrate those into the program. We continue to receive positive comments from you regarding the division of Obstetrics and Gynecology topics so we are repeating the format. Therefore, on Thursday we are offering Gynecology topics while on Friday, the day is devoted to Obstetric issues -- you have the option to register for either one or two days. Since 2011 we have been a paper-lite meeting. This means that no printed course material will be provided at the meeting. You will receive an notification when the syllabus is posted or either you may visit the Progress Website ( in advance of the meeting to view and/or download any course material. In addition to participating in the meeting, I do hope that you take the time to enjoy Birmingham, which is a diverse city that successfully balances history, culture and tradition with an eclectic mix of exciting activities. Many thanks to the numerous faculty and staff who help make this meeting possible including my co-course director, Dr. Ashley Hodges, and our Associate Director of Education and event organizer, Dr. Julie Covarrubias. I look forward to seeing you at the Progress in OB/GYN Alice R. Goepfert, M.D. Course Chair On The Cover The UAB Women and Infants Center
