1 Nurse Leadership Institute The Sonesta Hotel Sponsored by: Georgia Hospital Association Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders South Carolina Hospital Association South Carolina Organization of Nurse Leaders Purpose This year s Nurse Leadership Institute will focus on engaging nurses and staff, creating and sustaining a healthy work environment and a culture of quality patient and family centered safe care. Pam Beitlich, MSN, ARNP, RN with the Studer Group will be our keynote. She will focus on engaging nurses and strategies and tools for leading through change and transitions. With more than 20 years of experience in patient care, medical staff relations and nursing administration, Pam s comprehensive hospital background includes work as a former emergency department nurse and nursing administrator (in many different roles). The four concurrent sessions on Thursday will focus on Rapid Cycle Improvement / Defect Analysis with Roger Resar, MD; Rounding and Coaching with Karen Cook of The Studer Group; and Leading Change to Create a Healthy and Satisfying Work Environment with Carolyn L. Sanders, RN, PhD, NEA-BC, FACHE from the University of Colorado Hospital. The fourth concurrent will focus on rapid cycle improvements that three of the Georgia LEAPT hospitals have made in C-dif, Sepsis, and worker safety. Friday we will hear from Aimee Copeland and her father Andy. Aimee developed necrotizing fasciitis which led to amputations and the failure of her five major organs after an equipment malfunction on a homemade zipline. Aimee was taken to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctor s Hospital of Augusta and later to The Shepherd Center in Atlanta for rehabilitation. Karen Smith the CNO at Doctor s and Tammy King, CNO at The Shepherd Center will talk about a culture of nurse engagement and patient and family centered care. In addition to the excellent educational sessions, there will be time set aside to network and learn from your peers throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
